Date Reviewed: May 16, 2002
Favorite Trail:anywhere
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $150.00
Purchased At:extreme bike shop
Strengths:stylin, nice mrp type rollers(orange it is!), dont flex, does its job---keeps the chain tensioned and from derailing!
Weaknesses:if plates are not adjusted right(and it is hard to adjust because spacers only come in 2 widths) you get chain-suck, and the chain tends to come off
Similar Products Used:first chain guide, besides some guys crappy-home-made guide
Bike Setup:VPS2 with super T, hayes hydros, axiom guide, all XT, easton bars, race face cranks
Bottom Line:the guide is beautifully crafted, but makes some nuise due tu the slightly bent chain ring. also if you put the wrong amount of spacers in the plates, the chain could be too far from the plates in some gears, and you get chain-suck and derailing...remember that noise is a huge sacrifice over performance at times, so who cares if its noisy, it does its job. I recommend it, but if you have any 2000 vps, you have to grind down the part of the pivot(the brass thing) that tightens the swing arm pivots to the bearings...pain in the a$$ but it helps anyways. if you are looking for a guide half the price of an mrp but cant fit an mrp because of you swing arm's design, get an axiom! its that shiznit!
