Strengths:
It does what it is supposed to do, looks cool, and I got it at an amazing price.
Weaknesses:
None so far
Similar Products Used:
None
Bike Setup:
2007 Gary Fisher Cobia, 2x9 (soon to be 1x9), all stock except for platform pedals for the winter.
Bottom Line:
I've only taken it out twice since I got it, but it doesn't dig into wet logs like the big ring used to. I don't know if you'll find it for $15 like I did anywhere, but get it anyway. It came with longer chainring nuts so that was a nice bonus.

Strengths:
protects the middle chainring and crankset, has little notches in the edge to help it get over fallen trees easier, looks real good, even with some mud on it. oh, and keeps the chainring from shreading your jeans or long riding pants
Weaknesses:
um, it wasn't free? it's a bashguard, as long as it doesn't break (which it doesn't look capable of doing) and does what you bought it to do, it's got no weaknesses
Similar Products Used:
stock 44t chainring
Bike Setup:
'06 GT I-Drive 4 5.0, Azonic Aggro stem, Ritchey WCS Riser bar, Ergon MP1 mens grips, WTB seat, Crank Brothers Candy C pedals, SRAM chain, and of course the FSA bash guard
Bottom Line:
it does what you buy it to do, looks good doing it, and won't break the bank. what else can you ask for out of a CNC'D piece of metal?

Strengths:
Protects your crankset from getting destroyed! The outer ring on my bike was absolutely done and I have never used it while riding anyway so why not make the bike stronger.
Weaknesses:
Ummm, none that I can think of.

Bike Setup:
Cannondale Rush 5, Thomson Elite, WTB Speed, Crank Brothers Candy C, FSA Bash Guard and the rest is stock
Bottom Line:
I actually got a clear polymer bash guard made by FSA. Not the model picture above. The polymer is a little lighter.

Bottom Line:
i just started getting into some light trials stuff. a bash ring probably isn't necessary for the stuff i do, but for the price i couldn't pass it up. it replaces the outer chainring which i don't miss at all. it has actually come in handy is showing some scars. it is pretty thick (5mm) and has taken a lickin. we'll see just how long it keeps tickin.
