great product. Had to grind it down to fit my bike. A bit noisy but works well. chain doesn't come off. I had a MRP and the aluminum plate where are dent cause off rock. The plastic bash gard doesn't bend like the MRP aluminum one. I really like this product and don't understand the poor review above. I ride a lot and had no major problem with it.

Bottom Line:
Let me start by saying that I never, ever, ever had a mechanical problem with my MRP. I had owned this bike for about 2 years now (with the MRP) and some parts were crapping out, as parts will do. The MRP was a bit tweaked from encounters with tall rocks and I was going to be replacing the BB/cranks, so I thought I would go ahead and replace the chain guide as well. Why not try something different? I see a lot of people sporting the e-13, it's is a bit cheeper , and it looks pimp... To hell with that crap! STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW WORKS!! I don't care what the pros ride. If they break it over the weekend or whatever, it does't matter, they get that stuff for free. We have to pay for it and $120 is still $120 if you're flushing it down the toilet! All right, the bottom line is this. The E-13's are mostly plastic; at least the movin parts that are taking the abuse . Plastic and rocks, at any speed, don't mix. It has been about two months and this junker is just falling apart. There is not one piece of plastic that isn't broken, split, or chipped in some way. And, she is loud as all hell. I don't know what they mean by silent. I never heard a peep out of the MRP, but the e-13...let's just say you don't forget that it's there. I'm not a monster (5'11/195lb) and I'm not hucking 30ft cliffs onto chunky rocks either. I ride hard, flow as best I can, and occasionally have an incident with a rock or two. In my opinion I'm not overly hard on my bike and there is no reason that this thing should be falling apart the way it is. I don't care if e-13's waranty will cover any of it, and how good/bad there customer service is. I just don't want this thing anymore, and I doubt if I can get my money back (LOL). Get this guide if: 1)You are rich and can afford to replace parts often 2)You only want to look good 3)You are concerned about weight??? 4)You only ride your bike to 7-11 for a Red Bull, and the biggest opsticle you encounter is a curb. 1 Flamin'Turd for value: $120 down the toilet 1 Flamin Turd Overall: replacing today GET AN MRP...OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT ISN'T PLASTIC

Strengths:
None. This thing has been the biggest pain since I bought it. I cannot believe that the product reviews on this site are at all reflective of people who actually ride their bikes. They look more like sales people or company flunkies writin in.
Weaknesses:
The plate bent the first ride. The chain fell off on almost every time I used it. And I say used in the past tense cause this piece of junk did not make it far. And the guys at the Cove know its' a piece of crap. They must get a super deal from the manufacturer. 'Cause that' the only reason to sell it

Unless someone gives you this product as a gift, and that will tell you about yuor friendship, stay away from this piece of junk.
The plastic outer is heavier than a like aluminum one, and plastic is plastic. Eventually it will break.

This is the strongest chainguide on the market, Don't even question the strength of the lexan bashgaurd! This thing will take serious impacts, way better than any aluminum "MRP" bashgaurd on the market. And the guy who made the commit about the soft "plastic" guides for the chain, those are "Delron" and a perfect material for a chain to rub against! Not some soft rubber roller "mrp" that has to be replaced constantly! The boomarang is bomb proof, great strength. I have put some serios dents into this and it has stayed true! Friends all run this same chain guide and no one will run anything else.
Weaknesses:
This product had to be slightly modified to fit my Banshee Morphine. The bottom boomarang had to be notched to fit the frame, but there was sufficient webbing on the boomarang to make me feal confident to take the dremel to it. In defence of E-13 there might have been a issue on the ISCG mounts welded wrong from Banshee, after sending photos to Banshee they agree that they might have welded the frame wrong.

Bottom Line:
When I had problems with the fitment of my chainguide, I called E-13 and recieved some of the best customer service I've encountered in the industry.Trust me if you have ever dealt with product problems, it's hard to find a company willing to actually help you! They answered all my questions about fitment issues, e-mailed me ISCG mounts blueprints, photos of a morphine with the guide mounted, and took the time to make sure this product would work for me.So bottom line is I would reccomend no other chainguide on the market!

strong, no other guide like it on the market, the took a risk using lexan and it worked. It very strong stuff. The guide plastic parts are soft, but they are located in hard to reach areas which makes the guide not get dammaged by obstacles.
Weaknesses:
Price could be lower, but then they wouldn't make profit.
When you run your gears in the highest or lowest cogs, the chain gets caught and grabs the frame, I broke a chain doing this. Therefore, don't run the highest or lowest cogs which I don't really use. You shouldn't even need to put your chain on these certain cogs because this guide is meant for FR/URBAN/MX/DH/DJ. Last time I knew, none of these categories utilizes extreme climbing. So, if you use the smallest cog, beware of the chain catch.

THE BEST guide out there, period. I had some slight trouble setting it up at first as far as chainline goes, but thats somewhat of a problem with the 01 minute mans to begin with.
It is THE ONLY guide that will hold up to sproket grinds and pedal feebles gone wrong. The bottem plates will wear down after probably 200 times grinding on them, but thats 199 times more than any other guide will! They are superdy duper replaceable as well, and there are plans for EVEN more DURABLE metal plates in the near future. Never once lost a chain.
On my bb7, its an absolut MUST. The bike has such a low bb hieght to begin with, that when it bottems into tech chutes loaded with logs, rocks, the works, itd be just plain scary to have any other bashring on there. The plastic will slide over most anything without jamming up, and still actually work!
cant see ever using something else in my future

Tougher than Mr.T in his prime, quiet, doesn't get jammed in the worst conditions (yep, snow race baby!), easy to set up
the guide is just sick. My team, Bean's Bikes, ran them and did not have a single mechanical to due malfunction of the guide. This stuff is so good that my team wants to run it again for 03 season. New team name coming up, same guide though.

I have never dropped a chain with this guide, it is quiet and smooth, but the best part of the guide is the bashguard. You could beat this thing with a hammer and it would be no worse for the wear.
Weaknesses:
Slight diffuculty mounting the boomerrang onto a Profile BB, had to be modified to work.
Although I never had major problems with my MRP, the bashguard on the Evil makes it a superior product to the thin aluminum plates found on the MRP.

The e13/evil bikes SRS chainguide does a great job of keeping the chain on. I can honestly say that I've NEVER lost a chain during the entire two years I've been running it. The bashgaurd is also another key part to the chainguide; you won't find a stronger one out there. Many times I've hammered the e13/evil bashgaurd of large rocks and the blows have no effect what so ever on the gaurd. This chainguide is also one of the lightest chainguide/bashring combo guides out there (mrp, blackspire, and others). Another Plus about the SRS guide is that installation is a breeze, I put mine on with NO complications is less than 15 minutes.
Weaknesses:
None. Seriously, I can't think of one bad thing about this product.
Similar Products Used:

Bottom Line:
I ran with the blackspire for about a year and i thought that was fine until I switched to the Evil and really noticed the diffrence. The blackspire got the job done but the evil feel so much smoother and the evil has more adjustments so you can fine tune it to your crank/BB length setup to get it working perfectly.

The Evil/E.13 chainguide keeps the chain on at all times. It runs failry quiet. The bashguard is amazing. On my DH bike, it just glides across rocks that would destroy any other chainguide. On my hardtail, it takes sprocket stalls and grinds without problem. Setup is really easy too because of the easy to understand instructions that come with it. And if you dont understand something, just call or email 'em and they'll explain it perfectly. And to top it all off, it looks RAD!

Bottom Line:
The EVIL / E.TH1RT3EN chainguides are amazing. They keep the chain on the chainring, they take the abuse of downhill racing, freeriding, dirt jumping, street riding, skateparks and anything else you throw at it. And its from a great company that makes awesome products will be bigger than that other company soon.

This is the best chainguide made. Its stronger than any other design on the market. . . PERIOD. It actually sheds mud, dirt, grass, and volkswagens that get tangled in it. It doesn't ever get bent out of shape on a rock and cause damage to your drivetrain. (for all you tree huggers - it doesn't mark up the rocks or saw into logs either) Its not the loudest guide out there. Setup is cake. And, you're guaranteed to be the coolest kid on your block when you get one. Put one on your street bike and grind away my friends.
Bottom line, this is the only guide that actually makes me feel confident enough to just keep hammering through the nasty stuff. Get it and your riding will be improved.

Tuff as hell, clean looking, glides over rocks and logs, smooth quiet action, and simple to install and setup. I have given my guide a few good hits, both on the bashring and the boomerang, and it's still good as new...well, new plus a few scuffs ;)

I have run this guide in all kinds of weather from dry and dusty to deep mud and it's never let me down. I use it for DH runs, freeriding, and urban action and it kicks serious arse. that makrolon stuff is amazing, I tooled the bashring hard into a concrete ledge (i'm not that smooth) and it just scuffed and dented a little, same hit would have destroyed my blackspire bashring and the chainrings. I can backpedal in any gear without dropping a chain and the guide runs so freely that I can kick back on the pedals and the cranks'll spin around a few times.....sweet! The guys at Evil are super cool to deal with and are always at the local races doing FREE tech support, whether you have their product on your rig or not! They really stand behind their products 100% and do whatever they can to help you out if you have any problems or questions.

Weaknesses:
dunno if this is really a weakness, but it gets dirty quickly! Hey...I'm a clean freak ;)
I love my guide. Bent MRP plates are ot a thing of the past. Also I don't have to finagle around with the BB when you have to take the guide off. The EVIL chain guide system supports the ISCG standard, and also, the Mr. Dirt “A standard” (like on the Turner).... bolt right on and go! I've never lost a chain and the guide is fairly quiet. I've busted one lower pulley so far, but no big deal, Evil's outstanding customer service took care of me (and will also take care of you). you want the strongest, most reliable guide on the market? This is the strongest, best-engineered chainguide/bashguard combo there is. Period.
Weaknesses:
None. I'm a 255 lb hard urban/downhill rider. If I can't somehow break, bend, derail, or otherwise screw up this chainguide, then it has to be quality.
Similar Products Used:
Blackspire (broke chain twice, failed to keep chain on with any regularity, finally snapped lower roller after a hard crash -- lasted 4 months) MRP World Cup (excellent engineering, never drops a chain if properly dialed -- however, it's expensive, hard to install, and the bashplates are too thin to be of much use)
Bike Setup:
Balfa Minuteman
Bottom Line:
This is the Holy Grail of chainguides. It's simple, very easy to install, and holds the chain on under even the most brutal riding possible. A winner. I'm buying a second for my Santa Cruz.
Oh yes, did I mention that the clear bashguard looks incredibly trick? :^) Highly reccommended.

Keeps the chain on the ring. Bashguard is really strong. Awesome packaging. Looks like it could fit on just about any bike. Quiet.
Weaknesses:
Hardtail riders might be limited to smaller chainrings because of the way the guide/bashguard is setup. Setup takes a while. Cool looking bashguard is only cool if you ride around in the parking lot. A bit expensive, but worth every penny so far. Hard to find when I was looking.

Bottom Line:
It keeps the chain on. Ran it through a downhill course, technical, rocky, drops, jumps, it keeps the chain on. Bashguard will not bend...I got the Kamikaze version, so there's plenty bashguard to get through before it'll ever reach the chainring, or the bottom pulley. It looks damn cool after you put it on...but that kinda goes away after each run :) Very quiet. It's a good design and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a new/replacement guide or bashguard.
