Strengths:    Ceramic bearing are like BUTTAH!

Weaknesses:    THe plastic spacers can be a bit finicky to get the axle through, but once in, it's golden.
More threads on the cups would be comforting.

Bottom Line:
Super low drag, bike actually feels a bit faster!
Do not put side loading on your bottom bracket bearings folks! if you have race face cranks, and are unsure of the number of spacers, leave a tiny bit of side to side play. IT's better than sending the bearings to an early grave by side loading them.

Strengths:    Reasonable sale price
Looks smart.
In theory, replaceable bearings.

Weaknesses:    Seized up after just FIVE rides!

Bottom Line:
Smart CNC'd cups don't make up for totally inadequate weather sealing. Despite all the hype about external BB bearings being better, very few manufacturers seem to be able to provide a product that is durable. I had an XT square tapered BB on an old bike that lasted well over 2000 miles of XC riding. I'm buying a Hope BB next to see if it lasts any longer than this rubbish.

Fat bottom bracket

My cartridge bottom bracket took a dump and I've been admiring the RF turbine Cinch cranks. I've been toying with the idea of going 1x9 in the summer but keeping the double rings for winter grinding. Never waste the opportunity to buy new bling! I would like to run either Real World Cycling or t ... Read More »

Waltworks 83mm Bottom Bracket Fatbike Build

I don't have my hands on this beauty yet, but I wanted to share the concept and build... and I have some pictures, too. I will continue to update this thread as the bike progresses. Background: I have had quite a few fatbikes, all using the 100mm bracket. At the end of the day it seemed all of ... Read More »

Real World Cycling bottom bracket tool

I'm tempted to replace my fat bike's bottom bracket with a Real World bb. I thought I had seen somewhere on a forum post that it could be installed with wrench used for another standard, not the Real World tool, but I couldn't find the post. Am I imagining things? Also, would it be a no-no using ... Read More »
