Um, does it have any? I guess that it actually does work when you initially put it on. After a few rides it is a POS

Weakness:

Too many to list. The seals must be sieves. And the bearings seem to be cheap POS

I have ridden this type of BB in the southeast, Utah, and the PNW. I have not found a location that they will live past a year of usage even in moderate amounts. If you really ride hard... you may get 6 months though not likely. I got about 6 months of quality usage here in the PNW before killing the most recent one. Granted I rode rain or shine on trails that have perfect conditions for trashing bearings, i.e. very fine silt. But they are sealed right? Um not really. Unless you ride once a year on pavement in sunshine steer clear.

It's fairly light and shiny

Weakness:

Bearing and seals

I've never had a bottom bracket just completely freeze up on me and I have been beating on BBs for a long time. I got caught in the rain and dried off the bike when I got back. Next time I went to ride it the BB was locked solid. Naturally I took it apart. On the two-bearing drive side, the INNER bearing was rusted solid. That's pathetic for the minimal amount of water to which this bottom bracket was exposed. I was going to replace just the bearing, but I decided not to throw good money after bad and will just get a different bottom bracket.

Fits the cranks

Weakness:

wears out quickly

The DH version came on the bike, and wore out pretty quick in a dry riding environment. Got the SL because that's all I could find at the time. I think it's been 8 months and time for a new one. I see why they are obsolete. Time to get new cranks.

I used the BB for 4 years and never had a problem until a car accident ended bent the crank 1 inch inward and ended its life. I weigh 180 lbs and have smashed the bash guard into many rocks over that time. Bearings held up great. Maybe they have bad quality and I got a good set.

If you are a weekend warrier and price is a consideration then buy it.

it works good as long as you dont abuse it too bad

Weakness:

bearings loosen too much and it makes awful creaking noises and will eventually seize on you if ride too hard. not a very good design

this bottom bracket is good for light weekend riders and that is it. i am a hardcore commuter and have over 10,000 miles on my bike so i cant say its entirely the bottom bracket, but i have had this bottom bracket 3 separate times and they all did the same thing, even when i rode soft. i now have fsa platinum downhill and hopefully it will do the job.

ISIS Drive, price.

Weakness:

None noted to date.

This is my first ISIS drive bottom bracket, bought in conjunction with a Truvativ Firex crank.
Tech support was good both before and after the purchase. Both went on easily and have performed very well to date.
I installed both myself with minimal difficulty and excellent results.(This was the first time I have ever replaced either component.)
To date, I have had neither squeaks nor undue flex.
Overall I feel that this BB/Crank combination is an excellent combination of value and performance.

Strength:

straightforward installation

Weakness:

bearings are rough after less than two months

Installed this BB this spring, has probably 500 miles on it, washed the bike with a hose a couple of days ago.......not pressurized, just water pouring out of hose....put bike in stand to dry... went to lube chain yesterday and the cranks didn't want to turn. With a little effort, I got them to spin, but noticed that they aren't smooth. Pulled the cranks off and noticed that there is "roughness" when you spin the BB. Everything is still tight and there is the "good" resistance from the grease, but there's obviously "contaminants" inside the BB now. It won't really be noticeable riding (for now), but I have a feeling that the BB will have a very short life.

Strength:

Stiff, strong, low maintenance, installation instructions written on it, spline design keeps crank arms from coming loose

Weakness:

Some type of lock ring on the non-drive side would be nice, but not at all necessary.

I would definitely recommend this bottom bracket--its stiff, light weight, reliable, easy to install, and works great with chainguides. I have heard complaints of them coming loose and creaking, however have never experienced either myself---most problems could be due to improper installation/maintenance. So, make sure you follow the instructions when you install this bottom bracket, and install the correct spacers for your application. If you are riding in wet weather--no matter what bottom bracket you use--you will need to regrease it occasionally. Along with the Truvativ Holzfeller cranks, this setup provides a great setup for aggressive riding.

It lasted for 6 months

What a piece of junk! It started creaking at 5 months, and now, at 6 months its wobbling. So this is the last Gigapipe I'll buy. After the first one had to be returned b/c of wobble right out of the box, now this one lasts only 6 months....shame on you Truvativ!
