Great Frame... thats it. everything else rip off!

Weakness:

cheap parts

AMAZING frame, iv had this frame for a good 4-5 years, (06 model i think) obviously iv stripped the parts and just kept the frame and seat, (see custom parts listed above) its been down Fort William, Glentress, Lagan, name a scottish DH and its been down many a time, also been thrashed at skate parks, dirt jumps, not the lightest of frames, but the look and strength is awesome. best frame i have ever riden hands down.
and plus.....you never see another one around.

great frame, awesome geometry, climbs like a goat

Weakness:

crappy low end parts

great bike. just be prepared to be replacing the low end parts as you break them, and if you ride hard at all you will. the first thing i did was change the derailluers to shimano saint, and the forks to duke xc's because the stock suntour ones just sucked, then also went to disc and so on... but anyways the frame is nearly bombproof and its a pretty decent bike for the price.. i like it

Strong frame, looks,

Weakness:

fork i think, paint scratches, pedals are plastic, Chain get dirty easily i replaces chain, seat stem gets loose pretty regularly i will replace that seat feels like wood

I like the frame alot apart from the scratches it is very stronng the fork is ok but once i was riding and i hit something pretty big and the adjusters came out and hit me in the face. The adjusters on the fork are plastic and they dont really do anything. The cassete is nice but a sproket broke after the first month on mine. i would recommend changing the chain.

i got it pretty recently but i know i am going to replace the brakes with disc brakes, i would replace deralliuer because i want a better one, the one i have works pretty well sometimes messes up. and cassete and the fork. I replaced the pedals with metal ones.

Strength:

This frame is tough and has the best geometry I've Ever ridden!

Weakness:

Stock components are low grade; just enough to get you going so you can upgrade as you brake 'em!

You can't beat this frame for ruggedness and geometry.
For the "never know what the next day holds" riding I like, this is your beast. It takes a downtown fountain plaza and staircase just as well as a dirt single track around a corner, down a ravine, through a creek and up the other side. As you break the stock components, upgrade to exactly what you want and don't fret because you didn't buy the Mullet that costs twice as much for marginal upgrades.

Bottom line: with the "Gary Fisher Collection" Trek roll-out this frame looks like it could get rare. Get it while you can.

Handles great on roots, rocks, and other elements that are on the dirt path(s). Very rugged bike. Took a couple of tumbles with the bike and there are not any noticeable dents or scratches. Fairly easy to jump and do some amount of stunts on. Front suspension very good on taking the brunt of the impact when jumping/stunting. I recommend it.

Weakness:

Could be a little bit lighter frame. The hybrid tires are nice for just your average ride, but when the rain falls and your on the trail that is more technical, its definitely worth it to have some true mountain bike tires.

The Opie is a good mountain bike to have esp if your starting off your mountain biking career. I have had nothing but the best experience with the Opie. When purchasing the bike, not only did i get a great deal on the Opie, but at the location where i purchased the bike, a life time service and repair warranty was given at Walts Bike and fitness. That has definitely made this bike well worth it.

Loved the look of the bike. I also love the big frame (wanted something for my size).

Weakness:

I found out right away you have to watch were you get the bike from. The shop didn't put it together very well. I had trouble with the chain and brakes.

Now that I've addressed the poor setup, it runs good. I had to replace the chain and work on the brake.

It is a nice bike for starters. I plan on keeping it for winter riding and will get something lighter for summer.
