Race Face North Shore XS LP Crankset

DESCRIPTION

This crank is built solely for the 'new school' rider who doesn't think twice about launching off a 10-foot drop. When combined with an ISIS Drive BB, the North Shore crank set is the stiffest, most fatigue resistant, and impact proof crank you can put on your bike. Used 'as is' by Myles Rockwell of Team Giant, the 2000 Downhill World Champion. If Myles can't bend 'em, neither can you. Simple as that.

Strong, no flex, great power transfer, They haven't broke yet....

Weakness:

Bolts come loose periodically.

Good Stuff. Recommended, cause they hold up. Price is high but hey, if you never need another crank set then it might be worth it. Five flamin turds.

Strength:

Sexy, black, canadian, nothing cant stop them.

Weakness:

None, they were on sale so they werent expensive, and yes the black does wear off on the edges after some riding but who cares.

Buy these cranks in ISIS and never worry about bending a crank ever again. They grin at taking 10 footers. Even if you have to pay full price there still the best.

Strong, Stylin', As Grapes would say; "These babies give 110% every time out!" Replacable spider tabs. Super stiff.

Weakness:

I hear people whining about the graphics wearing of. Those are just battle scars baby.

These cranks are ass kickers, canuck style. Great cranks for Freeride, DH, DS, Urban, DJs. Not so great for xc. Highly recommended for anyone worried about having a crank fail on them. I'm a big Race Face fan. There customer service alone keeps me coming back. I'd never again by another brand of cranks. Worth every penny. 5 flaming ringbits!

These cranks do their job well. They haven't bent, broken, whined, or otherwise stepped out of line since I slapped them on, which is more than I can say for the cranks they replaced (XTR DH, with its gawd-awful 112mm bolt pattern which you cannot find any parts for). What more do you want in a crank?

Strength:

ISIS drive, nice (available) 5mm thick outer bashguard (limits ya to 2 rings up front)

Weakness:

Cosmetically, the color of the arms begins to wear right away, but looks aren't everything.

Nice. These are the last cranks you'll ever have to buy (lifetime war. even ridden as freeride/dh use(abuse?). Hey they say these are for guys who don't think twice about a 10 foot drop and they aren't kidding. Built to last, heavy as hell, stiff (no flex in any direction). My bike instantly felt much more solid at any speed, like a real dhsled. *Note I also opted for an outer bashguard with a 32/22 setup. I should mention that in the month and a half I've had this RF setup, I have not had the chain pop off the front, with no chainguide or MRP!!! The guard is true RF quality, a full 5mm thick, more than last years I hear, great if you do any riding that includes logs and exposed rocks. Yes, they are spendy, not for the faint of heart, but ever penny is worth the best crankset being manufactured today. You'll be making a wise decision!

Strength:

super burly, lite considering they're so strong, cool colors (even tho mine are just black), super stiff, got them for an awesome price, lifetime warranty, north shore tested, splined

Weakness:

CAN b expensive, maybe a little on the heavy side?? (MAYBE!)

I love these cranks! All you trials/urban riders out there know that tryin new things will beat up your equipment, but these things have kept me confident and havn't made me worry for a second that they won't hold up to anything.
Some may find it to be rather expensive when bought separately, but if you're worried, wait for an end of season sale, when u can pick up a bunch of things, shops are bound to give some sort of deal!
All in all, these are awesome cranks! Why not truvativ? I've had some really bad experiences with breakage and bendage, but they ARE almost half the price -- so it's a question of quality for the money or zero quality for no money! lol
PARTEE HARD!!

Strength:

strengths? this IS strength. there is no crankset stronger, bottom line. Do you like testing fate on 8 foot downers? buy these sick puppies, they'll take it.

Weakness:

THE CRANK ARMS KEEP FALLING OFF. don't ask me why or how, but recently i have had to bolt the non-drive side crankarm back on twice. i had it installed by pros, so there was no error there, it's just that this special 'tool' you need to install it doesn't quite do the trick, or so it seems...

If you snap cranks like you snap toothpicks get these. BUT, if you get them, be sure you get the Race Face bb too, because otherwise the warranty will be void if you mess your cranks up. They're mad nice, though, and they'll treat you well coming off that 5 foot wall you've been debating. carry a crank tool with you, though.

Strength:

Stiff, don't creak, go togeather nicely, isis drive is soooo stiff, good looking, replaceable chainring tabs

Weakness:

isis drive requires special tools, but the tools are cheap, so who cares

I got these to replace my lx cranks, as I stripped the taper out so the arm moved on the bb when tightened and came loose after about 2 pedals. I decided to go isis because it is stiffer, doesn't creak, and is stronger. I got the 165s for added ground clearance and stiffness. Bottom line? NO other crank I have ridded is as stiff as the northshores. They also look really good (mine are black) and for once, I have found a crank that doesn't creak. My local bike shop guy got them factory direct (no one stocks 165 mm cranks with a 94mm bolt pattern) and he got a pair of 175s isis and they've been treating him really well too. If you have the money and don't mind a few extra grams, these cranks won't do you wrong. If you're not a weight watcher, find a way to get the money for these, and buy them, you won't be dissapointed.
