Submitted by Varaxis a Weekend Warrior from SoCal

Date Reviewed: March 11, 2011

Strengths:    Doesn't slip, looks strong

Weaknesses:    51.5mm stack height, welded instead of 1 piece forged/cnc'd

Bottom Line:
Make sure you have enough steerer for it to clamp onto. The clamp on this is well over 10mm taller than typical stems.

Submitted by Petri Lenkkeri a Downhiller from Hildesheim, Niedersachsen, Germany

Date Reviewed: August 10, 2005

Strengths:    It´s appears to be very stiff and does its job very well.
I´ve got it on a Specializid Big Hit.

Weaknesses:    It takes the beating.Simply one of the best.

Bottom Line:
Titec El Norte is a very good stem for Extreme Mountain Biking. It´s not that expensive and definely better than the Big Hit stem.

I'm thinking about getting another bike for the endless dirt roads/back roads/old logging roads in the area, and would like to do some bikepacking as well. Picture exploring the Brazos for a few days kind of thing. ... Read More »

Moving back to El Paso del Norte

What tires are people running in the Franklin Mountains and the surrounding area? I am moving back to El Paso this summer and since I will need new tires in a hundred miles or so I figured I would buy tires that people think work well in the area. The bike is a 29er Lynskey Ridgeline with a 100mm ... Read More »

Titec El Norte handlebars

Anyone use them? I liked the feel of 28-29 inch handlebars but I am willing to give these bad boys a chance, though they may not be wide enough for stablility (690mm = 27-ish in.?). Should I go the whole hog and go for 28-30 inch handlebars for DH?Read More »
