Date Reviewed: October 3, 2007
Favorite Trail:Liberty State Park
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $10.00
Purchased At:JensonUSA
Strengths:This review is for the Black anodized version. Inexpensive. Sturdy. 3-bolt face plate.
Weaknesses:Doesn't hold handlebar securely. Flat design of face plate seemingly can't keep HB from rolling, regardless of torx applied.
Similar Products Used:El cheapo steel XYZ stem that came stock on the bike, including a CRACK.
Bike Setup:Tricked out Kawasaki (aluminum frame made by the Ming factory in the PRC)dual-suspension, 7-Speed SRAM with F disc and R Avid Rim Wranglers, Shimano/Sun Rhyno Wheelset, Answer Riser HB, Cane Creek headset and Rock Shox.
Bottom Line:Couldn't beat the price from JensonUSA as the stem was an OE salvage sale (Jamis). But if you're the type of rider (a big XXL fellow) that puts a lot of weight on your handlebars, this stem won't hold its grip. My guess is that it's a design problem; the face plate seems to be just too flat to provide a secure hold on the HB.

Submitted by Eric Iversen a weekend warrior from Johnson City, TN
Date Reviewed: October 28, 1998
Bottom Line:
A great stem for the money (only $15 at my LBS). I put it on a digital scale and it comes in at only 175 grams. Also it looks great, it has a chilsed CNC look, and is polished silver. (Don't get the black one, its cheaper quality and weighs a ton more). Two years old and it still looks new. Don't pay more for a Kore or any other chic brand that weighs the same but cost three times as much. Once you put it on you forget about it. Invest the money in good wheels or a better shock.
