Favorite Trail:Alum Creek P2
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:Jenson.com
Strengths:Overly Burly and Built. Awesome looking. Strong as hell.
Weaknesses:Stock face bolts are TOOOOOO short, but can be fixed, see my bottom line below.
Similar Products Used:SIC stems, husselfelt stems.
Bike Setup:2007 Mongoose Black Diamond Triple, Sherman Breakout Plus Fork, Fox DHX 5.0 Coil Shock, White Azonic Outlaw Wheels, WTB Timberwolf Tires, SRAM X9 Drivetrain, Hussefelt Crank, FUNN Grippa stem.
Bottom Line:I think this stem is better suited for freeriders and the All-Mountain use it's getting from me. There has been complaints about the face bolts stripping, they are TOO short stock, I don't know if FUNN has fixed this problem yet but I simply took the stock bolts to my local hardware store and got stainless steel replacements that were 1/4 longer than the junk stock ones it fixed the problem right now, cost about $1.00 to fix. So if your really set on getting one of these stems be prepaired to do the above and then get out there and ride!!!

Favorite Trail:Taniwha
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Simple, burly, good looking, inexpensive.
Weaknesses:Heavy (341 grams). 6 bolt face plate can be a bit of a hassle to set up but no problems experienced.
Similar Products Used:Thomson, Azonic, Maarz direct mount.
Bike Setup:Specialized SX 4X, Talas 130, Mavic Xmax XL, Gamut Guide, X9, Holzfella Cranks, Saint Brakes.
Bottom Line:Not bad, but better options are avialable, including other stems from the Funn range. Very stiff, perhaps overkill my my mainly trail riding, but overall im happy with it.

Date Reviewed: May 5, 2006
Favorite Trail:any
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:My shop
Strengths:relatively lightweight for a block of machined aluminum, looks cool.
Weaknesses:4mm 6 bolt pattern not strong enough for 31.8 bar. First one bolt stripped, then another, and finally it wouldn't hold the bar anymore. I made sure that all bolts were torqued to the proper spec, greased, tightened in the right sequence etc.
Similar Products Used:Sic ll, azonic, race face evolve, fsa freeride
Bike Setup:SC jackal, dj/street setup
Bottom Line:Not worth it, spend your money on a sic or something with proper sized bolts, ie 5 mm at least.
Value Rating:2Overall Rating:1
