Crank Brothers Iodine 3 Stem: 7075 aluminum All Mountain stem with carbon fiber faceplate. Dual wedge/plunger binder system, 4-bolt bar clamp, Torx bolts. 158g (@ 100mm).

Crank Brothers Iodine 3 Stem Pro Review

The All Mountain iodine 3 stem is made with 7075 aluminum, with a carbon faceplate and a unique aluminum plunger for the steerer clamp. The innovative plunger system uses a single Torx bolt at the steerer, which pushes out in a uniform manner, giving a cleaner surface area and a more distributed load, and allows a much higher torque setting. The stem has a 6° rise (+/-), 45mm clamp height, and comes in 65mm, 80mm, 90mm, and 100mm lengths, weighs 158 grams (100mm), and retails for $130. Continue reading →

Strengths:    Looks awesome, works well for me

Weaknesses:    None so far

Bottom Line:
Oh man am I glad I did this! I replaced a 60mm, 15 degree stem that was stock on my 11 Giant Revel 0...going to a 100mm 6 degree gave me more control on the trails, and provided levereage for combating low speed bump steer that was a problem on my rooty trail.

It did add about 15gs over my stocker if you're into that kinda thing.

Iodine 3 wheels

Just picked up a set of brand new 2013 Iodine 3 wheels for my stumpy 29, mostly out of curiosity and because I got them on the cheap ($349). They look great and I've heard the stories about the CB product failures in the past so we'll see what happens. I already own a pair of Flow Ex's with Hope ... Read More »

Custom Crankbrothers Iodine 3 Wheelset for my Intense

I was at Crankbrothers earlier in the week and they were nice enough to custom build me a new set of Iodine 3's with Gold to match the build on my Tracer 2 conversion. Crank Brothers Iodine 3 vs ZTR Flow EX wheelsets

Hi guys! I'm thinking about the posibility of building my next Mojo HD (yes, I have said it correctly, Mojo HD, not HDR), step by step. About the wheelset choice, I have considered two options: Crank Brothers Iodine 3 or ZTR Flow EX. What do you prefer? Relative to Iodine, I've heard about ... Read More »

What about Iodine 3 handlebars?

Hi! I'm looking for handlebars for my new AM ride. There are not so many options available right now, so I stopped at this one - CB iodine 3 handlebar. It looks very very nice in "iron" color. And it has right wide and rise for me. But when I found out that it weights only 238 grams I was concerned ... Read More »
