Strengths: Simple, Cheap, Light, FunctionalWeaknesses: Grips wear out quickly,Bottom Line: I bought this way back in '94 or '95, when the X-ray shattered when it met my knee once. I have been through four sets of grips for this shifter, but the shifter keeps on shifting :-) Hope it'll keep going for few more years.

Strengths:
Cheap, light, simpleWeaknesses:
It takes some getting used to and shortens your grip. Nearly all plastic, could be weak.Bottom Line: I blew my XT rear shifter and the local bike store didn't have any replacements so he gave me a GS600 for $20 so I could ride until he gets something else in. I don't think I will switch, it was cheap enough that if it blows I will buy another.
