Strengths: Does what it's intended to do. Simple installation.Weaknesses: Loud "clicking" gear shifts. Very much plastic.Bottom Line: I wasn't completely comfortable with the trigger set up that came with the bike originally. The twist shift feels more natural although it takes some getting used to due to accidental shifts while gripping for bursts of speed. Most of my disappointment is the cheap sounding "clicks" made during shifts. Overall it gets the job done during recreational use and works flawlessly with a SRAM X-7 rear derailleur. Competition wise, I would expect it to last as long as any $14 shifter would.

Strengths: crisp clean shifting, even under load. trims on the fly without needing to be gumbyWeaknesses: the gear indicator is on the outside and in the wet / mud i can forsee issues with grit n sh1t getting into the unitBottom Line: the x7 in the arse and the 3.0 comp shifter actually make riding the foldable bearable...its not going to take a huge beating though and it definately needs TLC
