Strengths:
The post itself is strong with the exception of the clamping mechanism.
Weaknesses:
Why on earth would race face produce a DOWNHILL SEAT POST with the low end knurled style single bolt clamp??? The slightest fragment of dirt or friction will cause the knurling between the clamp and the body to completely strip!!
Bottom Line:
COMPLETE AND UTTERLY FLAWED JUNK. Race Face is generally a very reliable sturdy brand. what bugs me is the fact that they would market and brand something as a Downhill seatpost (hence the DH designation below the prodigy logo)yet apply the same technology as would be found on a seatpost found on a $89.99 huffy hurricane?

Weaknesses:
The seat clamp always works its way loose so the seat rattles. The entire clamp assembly rotates free from the rest of the post.

Bottom Line:
The only good thing about this seatpost is that it gives you a place to put the saddle on the bike, besides that, not much else. The the clamp bolt comes loose, however, I could live with that. The thing that bugs me the most is that the saddle clamp assembly will rotate free of the rest of the post which is really annoying. THe saddle can rotate 360 degrees with the push of a finger. I have never wrecked the bike, it came like this. Needless to say, I will be swapping it out as soon as possible.

Bottom Line:
After one year (800 miles) of riding on this post the clamp bolt sheared during a ride resulting in both me and my boys being unhappy. I clean and lube the bike every 100 miles and being a mechanic everything is always torqued properly. I have since put a Thomson elite on my bike and put the RF in the trash. I plan to replace my RF stem also since I just dont trust thier hardware now.

Strengths:
One piece design adds strength. Seat rail clamps hold well and offer plenty of adjustment.
Weaknesses:
The ratcheting adjustment won't stay in place, it slips no matter how tight you crank it down. Once it slips once, and the ridges get worn down between the head and the post, it will continue to slip even worse. I'm talking the area where you adjust the tilt of the seat....it slips there. I eventually epoxied the two pieces together, and the slipping stopped. But I still replaced it with a Thomson.
Similar Products Used:
RaceFace XY, Thomson, Ritchey....and the Prodigy was the only one that slipped.
Bottom Line:
If you find one cheap, it's not a bad post, but use some lok-tite or epoxy on it to prevent slippage.
