Favorite Trail:XC
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $35.00
Strengths:It is a seatpost.
Weaknesses:Terribly soft, it bends after a short while.
Similar Products Used:Many others, ended up with Thomson seat post.
Bike Setup:Voodoo Wanga / Fox / etc.
Bottom Line:I've bent of broken a fare amount of bike components, all in aggressive XC riding, and I must say that bad seatpost is one of the most annoying problems you can have. - Your pedaling power is weaker, and after it bends, your position is not good. OTOH I've *never* bent Thomson seatpost. Dont' waste money, this is good only to someone who granny rides around.

Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Nice adjustment. Look nice and robust.
Easy to fix problems like angle of the saddle.
Weaknesses:Too flexy. Too heavy, The new ones are more difficult to screw the bolts - it is not holding the nuts anymore.
Similar Products Used:Pazzaz , Ritchey and some cheap
Bike Setup:well I got 3 bikes with that but the first was the Scott Gzero Pro.
Bottom Line:At first with FS bikes it will work nice but if you are using hardtail it will be flexy until you brake the frame or the post. Why they made it from 6061 ? that's bad flexy and heavy.
I got actuality 3 of those posts.
The threads on nuts really got busted for a 5-6 months I put a longer bolts and a nuts to make it work. It really ruined some days to fix those cheese nuts. Why made it from cheese ?
If you are going to buy 27.2 mm in diameter DON'T it is not worth it.
For 31.6 on Full Suspension it is ok.
No cracking but expect some day to seat on your tire not the seat because the nuts of cheese.
I'm forced to use this on my Scott Gzero but it is modified for better strength (Not that easy to find better where I reside - 26.8mm).
Those nuts must be 8mm not 6 and longer like 3-5 mm longer.
Good design but bad materials. Pazzaz is flexy too but the nuts are better it uses the same mech - seems in this they are better.
If you are aggressive XC rider, FR DH or Hardtail bike don't buy this no matter what. Go for the Team version or Thomson.

Strengths:It works
Weaknesses:It does what it's suppose to do so I would have to say none.

Bike Setup:Jamis Dakota XC 05
Bottom Line:I'm not sure why all of the other reviews have been having so many problems out of this post. I have only used the post for the last year, but the owner of the bike before me easily weighs 215. The post doesn't squeak, doesn't slip, hasn't bent, and it works. This post comes stock on a lot of Jamis bikes and I believe most of the reviews are people who have had problems with the post. 5

Date Reviewed: November 23, 2006
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $10.00
Purchased At:BAB
Strengths:Cheap, Easy to adjust
Weaknesses:Weak bolt, Creaking after the first ride and keep on creaking after re-tightening. Thread finally shred away a few tightening.
Similar Products Used:No name brand with single bolt (more dependent and consistent), upgrade to Thomson and what a different it make.
Bike Setup:Giant Faith with custom components.
Bottom Line:Bought it since it was cheap and just the rite size and length for my frame. Even after reading the bad review, I thought how bad can a product from truvativ be. Well, it is really not worth a try even for free. Weak bolt! Can't be tighten enough to stop creak. Really2 dissapointed, BELIEVE the bad reviews!

Favorite Trail:Blue Hills
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:None really
Weaknesses:Really crappy hardware. Not very much angular adjustment. Not enough setback(for me anyways).
Similar Products Used:Titec scoper, diabolus
Bike Setup:Big Hit 05
Bottom Line:Crappy nut threads stripped out while I was tightening the clamp the first time I put my seat in it. I specifically made sure that both bolts were threaded to the end of the nuts before tightening them down.

Some of the paint flaked off as soon as I put it in the seat tube also, no big deal but surprising.

The shop where I bought my Big Hit replaced the nut but I'm afraid to ride this thing after reading the other reviews!

Date Reviewed: May 1, 2005
Favorite Trail:Las Guias - Panama
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:came with bike
Strengths:Looks good, easy to adjust.
Weaknesses:Nuts and bolts arent that strong. In less than a Month i smashed the front nut and broke the rear bolt.
Similar Products Used:Titec
Bike Setup:05 Kona Stinky
Bottom Line:I dont think this seatpost is up to the TruvaTiv name, they should consider revising the nuts and bolts and switch them for strongest ones, since the position this post as a product that should work from XC - Downhilling. Maybe it should be advertised that it works for downhill/freeride.

Favorite Trail:ZBoaz
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Looks cool and easily adjustable--a supposedly trusted brand.
Weaknesses:Bent after only 3 rides! I'm a larger guy but rode a hardtail for years doing the same type of riding (XC and FR) and never bent a post.
Similar Products Used:Specialized, Shimano
Bike Setup:Raleigh Ram XT 2500 stock
Bottom Line:The post came as stock equipment on my bike which is my first full suspension bike. As expected I've been able to bomb down things that would've jarred my spine on my hardtail so I must admit I'm quite surprised that this post pooped out after 3 rides. If I were dropping cash on a new post (like I'm soon going to be!) I would interview other prospective candidates for the job of seat holding, weight supporting, etc............

Strengths:Adjustability
Weaknesses:Bends easily
Similar Products Used:Kalloy
Bike Setup:FR/DH
Bottom Line:I've used this product for only 3mos. It bent while wheelie'n off some steps. It was only extended 190mm and I'm no porker...170lbs... Seems a bit weak, but at least it didn't break! Maybe I need some titanium?
