Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $40.00
Purchased At:BICYCLEBUYS.COM
Strengths:Geometry of the seatpost is great. Great solid seatpost.
Weaknesses:Bolt tightens into the gel part of my WTB saddle. No issue just makes me frown :(
Similar Products Used:Straight posts
Bike Setup:Cannondale Jekyll
Bottom Line:I'm 6'2" and this post was the perfect fix for my Large bike. They say to get the smallest frame you can fit on and I was feeling a little cramped until I got the Lincoln Town car of seat posts. This post moves your center of gravity back so you climb in the saddle better. You decend without having to slide off the back of the saddle on 90% of the fun stuff you used to need to. The really steep stuff well... Overall this is a great post, heavy duty but for us clydes if it survives the ride it's worth a weight penalty. It also makes the bike look exotic.

Bike Setup:Giant NRS 1
Bottom Line:It gets my weight further back which gives me more confidence on downhills. On the other hand,it make my front tire bob on uphills.I compensate by sitting on the front of the saddle, which is a little uncomfortable.

Date Reviewed: May 9, 2003
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:eBay
Strengths:Very strong, sets up a larger cockpit for those of us with longer torsos.
Weaknesses:Heavier than most, but not too noticable.
Similar Products Used:Nothing with this much setback.
Bike Setup:Kona Dawg, stock.
Bottom Line:Great product. I couldn't find anything else that gives as much cockpit room. I got a smaller frame to have better maneuverability. With this seat post it gives the bike a great feel. The difference of a few ounces doesn't make a difference to me as far as weight is concerned. Overall, it is exactly what I needed.

Date Reviewed: March 4, 2002
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:Harris Cyclery, W.Newton MA
Strengths:This bad larry is strong!! and its is a climbers best friend.
Weaknesses:Definitely Heavy..but not so much that I really care
Similar Products Used:Titec Alu. Bontrager Race light.
Bike Setup:96' Kona Killuea (nice steel prestige frame), XT, Mavic, Marzocchi Bombers yadda yadda
Bottom Line:I had snapped two seat posts over 2 - 3 years. Saw another guy on the trail with one and flagged him down. bought it and have had it for a year. Totally improves my handling and I have long ass legs, so my knees are quite happy about it also. If you are someone (like me) who likes a little smaller frame for better handling then this post is perfect for you. Also if you like to climb anything other than paved hills, it helps.

Favorite Trail:SHULTZ CREEK
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $70.00
Purchased At:MINGUS MTN. BIKES
Strengths:STRONG, LOOKS REALLY FUNKY, MORE ROOM IN THE COCKPIT- ALL MY HEIGHT IS IN MY TORSO , MAKES FOR GOOD CLIMBING WITH MORE WEIGHT OVER THE BACK TIRE.
Weaknesses:HEAVY, LOOKS REALLY FUNKY
Bike Setup:00 TREK 8000 HARD TAIL XT/XTR
Bottom Line:IT IS OUTSTANDING IF YOU NEED A LOT OFF REAR OFFSET AND WANT SOMETHING THAT WOULD SURVIVE A NUCLEAR WAR. IF YOU ARE COUNTING GRAMS LOOK AT THE THOMPSON OR RACEFACE....

Favorite Trail:Ganaraska
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:The thing is build like a tank!
Weaknesses:A bit on the heavy side but so am I after a big mac
Bottom Line:WICKED!! It extends the bikes cockpit and also gets more weight over the back wheel. Astetically, the hellbent makes the bike pretty gnawly. I also found that the bike seems to handle faster. FIVE FLAMING TURDS!

Favorite Trail:TopSecret
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $420.00
Purchased At:I cannot recall, for I was too stoned
Strengths:Poppin wheelies!
ITS LASTED A LONG-LONG TIME
Weaknesses:Cannot lower post for harsh landings or descents. But get over it and keep a second post/saddle to slip in for jumps.
Similar Products Used:All
Bike Setup:COVE stiffee
Bottom Line:Great for technical climbing, because it wheelies over any stump or bump just by leaning backwards.

Date Reviewed: June 6, 2000
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Built like a Sherman tank, pretty cool looking
Weaknesses:Nit on the heavy side, tricky initial saddle set up
Bike Setup:Specialized Stumpjumper M2, XTR, Judy xc
Bottom Line:I am built like a 5'10" Tattoo from Fantasy Island. I have short legs and a very long body (I ride a 15.5 frame) so fitting into traditional MB sizes has always been hard. This post combined w/ a longer stem dials me in. It's a great product that fixes a big problem for me, and it also is pretty cool looking on the bike.

Date Reviewed: April 5, 2000
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Geometry changes, added comfort, Strong (Very Strong), once the saddle is adjusted it will not move or creap.
Weaknesses:Heavy, Saddle adjustment a little challanging
Bike Setup:Schwinn Moab I (Reynolds 525), Judy, Sun Mammouth, Revolt Tires, WTB Saddle
Bottom Line:I was in between sizes on the Moab I so I went with the smaller size. I was glad to be able to add the Hell Bent post because it gave me an extra 2+ inches of seat travel. With the extra travel I was able to get the perfect fit and have a bike that is good on longer rides and technical trails.

I have been using the post since its introduction for almost 2 years (if memory serves correctly) and have had no seat movement and it has supported my heroic build of 225lbs.

Great seat for more than just downhillers.

Strengths:everything
Weaknesses:heavier than other seatposts
Similar Products Used:kalloy uno
Bike Setup:schwinn carbon homegrown, spins, judy100
Bottom Line:My frame was too small for me so i didnt have much top tube room. i got this seatpost and a slightly longer stem and i was able to extend my arms a little more. Although its meant for downhill, it works great for street and xc. It also makes the bike look better

Submitted by marco1 a Cross-Country Rider from Europe
Date Reviewed: June 23, 1999
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
-bike geometry change, lenght
Weaknesses:
-bit on the heavy side
-awkward saddle adjustments
Bike Setup:
Schwinn HT/ Z2 bam
Bottom Line:I bought this seatpost to alter my riding position to more race oriented, so far this seems like an ideal setup for me since I don't have to use mega long stem to get to long&low riding position. Post is fairly heavy and saddle adjustment is not too handy but seems strong though.
I'd wanted to get the RaceFace but this was half the price so ....
