Favorite Trail:MRT
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $220.00
Purchased At:XXCycle
Strengths:3" Adjustable version is easy to install and works great. I've run this now for the past few months and been very happy after the initial adjustments were set for cable tension. Awesome to be able to drop the seat and re-raise without stopping your ride. Raises slowly so as not to bash anything important, but quickly enough so it's there when you need it. Bottom line is this is not a nutcracker.
Weaknesses:Hard to locate in the USA. On occasion when the seat has been lowered I need to apply some bum weight in order to get it to un-stick from the lowered position. Handlebar mounted lever seems like it could be more durable.
Bike Setup:Jamis XAM 2.0 AM set-up
Bottom Line:Beats stopping and adjusting your seat contantly if you are into AM trails that require a dropped seat and a then a full strength XC pedal stroke.

Favorite Trail:A-line
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $350.00
Strengths:5 inches,, great idea
Weaknesses:the seat sticks down and has to be raised with hand. scratches on the bottom of tube (???) Slow movement when it does work. Remote switch is cheesy and must be pushed to the extreme while pushing with you butt on the seat to work
Similar Products Used:Joplin, Gravity dropper
Bike Setup:Nomad marrizocchi 66, heckler Z1, all raceface components, X9
Bottom Line:Of all these kinds of seat post it seem the gravity dropper is the only one that functions as advertised.

I have not tried the command post or turbo dropper as yet.

Favorite Trail:mountian lion
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $180.00
Purchased At:collins bicycles
Strengths:5 inches of travel
Weaknesses:crappy remote, action has lots of friction, fragile, mine broke in a slow crash.
Similar Products Used:speedball r
Bike Setup:Intense 6.6, all mountain set-up
Bottom Line:The post worked great for two months, then i broke the remote on a slow crash (the speedball joystick is a much better design). While i was fixing the remote the post quit working correctly, maybe i broke it ? It won't stay in the down position. I am going to try and warranty it, in the mean time a bought a gravity dropper turbo, no seals, no oil, so far so good.

Date Reviewed: June 4, 2009
Favorite Trail:Blue Mountain
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:xxcycle
Strengths:No side-to-side play. Relatively cheap. HUGE 5" drop! Gorgeous...
Weaknesses:Heavy (they all are...), sticks a little when rising, develops scratches at the bottom for some reason...
Similar Products Used:Race Face Evolve, FSA, Thompson, Bontrager, etc.
Bike Setup:Jamis XAM 1, Cane Creek Zonos wheelset, Maxxis Minion tires, Odi Lock-on grips - the rest is stock.
Bottom Line:This seatpost is amazing. I would buy it again if I had the choice. The 5 inches of drop is the best - I wouldn't be happy with any less... The only drawback is the mysterious scratches that developed at the bottom rear of the post due to dropping and rising. I'm not sure how this happened - could be that I set the seat post clamp to tight? I don't know but it hasn't caused the post to malfunction - only a cosmetic thing - so far...
Again, I would purchase this post again if given the choice.
If you're undecided, consider that fact that most other post don't have the same travel and many have side-to-side play - this one doesn't AND it's good looking AND cheaper than most. No brainer if you ask me. One thing though, Fezzari offers the same post and may be able to give better tech suppeort - just somethign to consider. When I purchased the Kind Shock, Fezzari had run out of the remote version...
