Weaknesses:    Easily bent.

Bottom Line:
Just noticed I bent mine. Total genuine JRA.

This post came on my Big Dummy complete from xtracycle. I'm 6' 165 lbs. and don't wear a backpack on this bike. I only have 6" (160mm) showing on a 350mm post. The post has not seen any abuse, biggest drop this bike sees is a curb, yet the thing has bent.

I have run plenty of posts close to maximum extension, and never bent one. The cheapo OEM post on my kona was extended twice as far, same weight and diameter, was flexy as hell, saw way more abuse, but never bent.

Total junk.

Strengths:    Cheap

Weaknesses:    Catastrophic failure without warning!

Bottom Line:
After 8 months use, mostly on tarmac with the occassional ride on undemanding trails, averaging about 100 miles a week, the bolt securing the clamp to the saddle on this seatpost fractured with no warning, dumping me onto the road at 20mph. Luckily I got away with bumps, bruises, scratches and a knee sprain, but could have been a lot worse! If you've got one of these, or any seatpost with only one securing bolt, I recommend you check/replace regularly or even better purchase a seatpost that uses at least two bolts, if of course you value your life!
