Date Reviewed: October 14, 2005
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Strengths:Light saddle with stylish embroidery to keep you rear from sliding around.
Weaknesses:Rear cutout puts a hard seam right in your undercarriage. Adjustment system doesn't seem to do anything useful.
Similar Products Used:Other saddles.
Bike Setup:Updated Trek Y-22
Bottom Line:Most uncomfortable saddle ever. The wide U-shaped cutout at the rear of the seat puts a hard seam right between your legs. After a dozen miles you'll swear it's cutting you in half. You can't find relief by riding more forward because of the rigid sides of the depression that is suppose to take pressure off of your nerves. After a few days it is less painful to ride, provided you keep on riding and don't let your calluses fade away.

Strengths:light. comfy. good looking. A.S.S. system.
Weaknesses:hmm. stupid embroidery. Who the hell said that crap was fashionable?
Similar Products Used:WTB, Selle italia, Vetta, Specailized
Bike Setup:rigid Niner and a cross bike
Bottom Line:Easily, hands down the most comfy saddle my ass has had the pleasure of smelling up. All my previous saddles made my dickie go numb w/in 20 miles. Takes over 30 for that to happen now. Certainly makes riding more comfortable. Nice narrow rear makes getting off nice 'n easy. Great saddle, Ti rails seem to be holding up quite nicely under my 215lbs carcass. Great seat. Go buy one. You'll for sure like it too.

Strengths:Comfortable, no numbness like I had from other seats. Quiet no noise, adjustment works well on my boney but.
Weaknesses:You have to play with the seat to get it to fit. But once you figure out what works for you it will be the last seat you ever own. I bought at the same time the Salsa seatpost which made adjustments a breeze. I keep the seat tight and have never heard a creak.
Similar Products Used:Specialized, Selle
Bottom Line:Work with the seat to get it to your liking and keep it tight and no complaints!

Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:United Cycle
Strengths:Titanium Rails, dont ask why but other saddles' rails always friggin bend on me.
Tension adjuster is cool, nice and quick to adjust, even while riding.
Nice embroidery.
Weaknesses:Creaks a little, nothing crazy though.
Bottom Line:Phat saddle. I had a selle italia once... i dunno, cost me 100 bucks and it sucked, rails bent and selle italia were all "to bad" about it. B@stards. Dunno about Salsa customer service but all their products are pretty cool. And when I e-mailed them with a question once they were pretty friendly guys. Ti rails adds one to the coolness factor. Narrow seat makes it easy to take a leak while riding, but if you have a big arse or somethin you might not like it. Good seat.

Price Paid: $80.00
Purchased At:Wheeler Dealer
Strengths:Good and durable. Feels good on my arse.
Weaknesses:Cloth on the back of the saddle has begun to fray, maybe thats because I've been riding on it for three years. Other than that none.
Similar Products Used:SDG saddle
Bike Setup:Kona Roast
Bottom Line:Good saddle. It even has a semi-nut saver dakine built into it.

Strengths:Looks cool and WAS comfortable
Weaknesses:Titanium rails and rail stiffness adjuster. Also leather cover.
Similar Products Used:koobi au chrono
Bike Setup:99 jamis dragon
Bottom Line:One of the seat's rails broke on the first lap of three in a race for no apparent reason. I am pretty light and somewhat smooth so i could not believe it broke. I blame saddle. Also the seat's rail stiffness adjuster rusts in less than a month. Also, seat's leather fades and loses smoothness too quickly. It was nice while it lasted but I would not recommend buying one with the Ti rails.

Date Reviewed: June 20, 2001
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $90.00
Purchased At:the lbs
Strengths:Construction good so far, light weight, and the adjustable feature.
Weaknesses:To hard and would not mount on a CT2 post.
Similar Products Used:Coda mtn and Bontager FS +10
Bike Setup:Popard Lemond Cyclo-cross.
Bottom Line:Could not get to work for me due to the hardness of the saddle and my boney bottom(not much padding in the saddle too). I can't ride seated 5 minutes without having to standup for some relief!! I am replacing the thing before next cx season. Just hope the new saddle will fit a Salsa seat post(it's a little different too)

Strengths:Strong enough to not break under my gigantic ass.
Weaknesses:None yet
Similar Products Used:Flite Ti
Bike Setup:Fisher X-caliber (857 tubes), XTR, etc.
Bottom Line:I was using a Specialized saddle from my old Stumjumper until a crash bent the rails. Thank god because I wouldn't have bought the Salsa unless the other one died. Great saddle for me. It sets up easily with my Kore post, so no problems like the guy with the Thompson post. Because this saddle is so comfortable, has been very durable to this point, and looks pretty cool too, I give it 5 defocated bloody suppositories.

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Very Comfortable with no numbness. Has held up very well. Looks Great.
Weaknesses:Plastic Liner inside saddle sounds like you are riding with a plastic bag up your rear.
Similar Products Used:SDG, Crossbow
Bike Setup:Full suspension Homegrown,XTR components,Raceface Cranks, Easton EA70 Bars, Easton post, Syncross Stem, Marzoki Fork.
Bottom Line:The saddle is comfortable. I complained about the noise it made and Salsa replaced it for free. Unfortunately the new one made the same noise. I am starting to get use to it however.

Submitted by Dave a Racer from Blacksburg, VA
Date Reviewed: January 19, 2001
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Saves Mr. Bo-Jangles
adjustment system is effective at changing the stiffness
Weaknesses:1.The adjustment on the nose creeks continuously causing rider insanity, even after applying tri-flow.
2.Rails are at a strange angle, making this saddle incompatible with thompson posts unless you like riding with the nose high.
3.construction is crappy. The plastic piece under the nose is already falling off mine(held in place with a small self-tapping screw) and the saddle seems to be losing it's shape in the nose region.
3.heavy
Similar Products Used:Sel italia flight, bontrager, SDG
Bike Setup:Trek 8900 frame, XT components, Thompson seat post, Rock Shox JUDY sl. AKA Cross-country hardtail
Bottom Line:The saddle is pretty comfortable(no numbness on long rides) but because of the rail angles, I have to ride with the nose too high which is not comfortable. The creeking adjustment system is driving me insane! Shoddy workmanship. Not acceptable!

Purchased At:Towpath
Strengths:Very comfortable, Durable leather cover, Adjustable, and Quiet for a ti railed saddle.
Weaknesses:Smells funny when wet. Other then that it's awesome

Bike Setup:GT XCR LE, Avid discs, XT components, RS SID SL, Fox Float RC, Thomson seatpost and stem, Easton EA70 MonkeyBar, Mavic 317 rims, etc.
Bottom Line:Awesome comfortable saddle. Looks like a old Brooks racing saddle. Very sturdy and well made. Not that light but who cares. A good buy too. I don't care about the junk saver features because I have never had that problem.
