$24.00 | | Purchased At: | eBay | | Strengths: | Good looks, pretty light for a MTB saddle. I found it to be very comfortable. | | Weaknesses: | The plastic nose piece creaks against the rails at times. | | Similar Products Used: | Aireon Pro, Koobi Enduro | | Bike Setup: | Fetish Cycles D&S Model with XT/Avid/SRAM gear. | | Bottom Line: | First, I realize saddles are very personal things, so what works for my 5'11" 220# frame, may not work for you.
That said, other than my $20 Aireon, this is the best saddle I've used as far as comfort goes. Even more so than the $90 Koobi on my road bike.
I'd recommend it, especially at a sub $50 price. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$50.00 | | Purchased At: | Bow cycle | | Strengths: | Good shape | | Weaknesses: | In a word OWW! The padding is too soft for 200lbs plus riders. I feel like I am riding directly on the shell. The cover is way too grippy. Makes it hard to move around which just makes the comfort issues worse. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialzed BG, Velo, Fizik Vitesse, Titec Berzerker KXC, Selle Italia Optalink and Flite | | Bike Setup: | 02 Enduro | | Bottom Line: | I wanted to like this seat and got what I thought was a good price. The more I ride it though the more uncomfortable it becomes. It feels good initially because the shape lets you pedal efficiently. After a while though the sit bones start to complain. I am now at the point where I am so sore that even sitting at my desk hurts. The cover also is way to grippy. The Boys have gotten squished a couple of times when trying to move around on the saddle, because my shorts hung up. It might be a good choice of saddle for a light weight rider who doesn't move around much but otherwise I think this thing is much to painful to ride. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

While it took a bit of time for me to break it in to conform to the contours of my rear, once I did, it has been well worth it. I have the plain chromo railed, Black nytex (?) top with leather glide area, and while the nytex has faded to a nice worn in looking tannish color, the rest of the saddle has held up well to all sorts of abuse. I love the fact that the rear end of the saddle is broad enough to give support, but not so broad that you can't get off the back in adverse situations. Plus the saddle narrows out nicely towards the front so that you don't have the shoulders of the addle rubbing uncomfortably on your inner thighs, and the nose is padded nicely so that sitting on the nose for those extra steep climbs is no real issue. It may be a saddle that requires a certain rider style/body type, but all I know is it works for me. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I also like buying expensive things for really cheap, so $17 for a $70 seat also felt good, but not as good as this seat on my butt. I have the basic Nisene with foam padding and cro mo rails. Noisy! | | Similar Products Used: | Selle San Marco Race day | | Bike Setup: | Aluminum hardtail, with lots of parts. | | Bottom Line: | (First of all I have the Nisene with the Gel) This seat has been my favorite so far. It took quite a few rides to break it in, but afterwards it has been good. It is kind of comfortable, but if I ride over 35 rough miles my ass will be sore the next day. Beware of the black dye! Yes, that is right it will leave black marks on your shorts if the saddle gets wet or your butt sweats. After 4000 miles, my seat is calling it quits. The right rail has, well broken (??) where it fits into the bumper, causing it to sag to the right. After all of the ass-on-seat jump landings, I am really suprised how well this seat has held up. It did have a period of squeeking that was very annoying, but a little Tri-flow in the area where the rails meet the bumpers took care of it. BOTTOM LINE: This seat is durable (I weigh 180lbs) and about as comfortable as I could expect a seat to be. If you have a chance, try out a friend's first - though it has a nice shape, this seat won't fit everyone. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The cool thing about the Ti-rail design is that it actually acts as 1/4-1/2" of suspension. This added to my Sugars 2.5" adds up to one sweet ride. The way to get rid of the creaks is to spray some silicone loob around the elastomer inserts and plastic shell area where it hits the rails. NO MORE CREAKS! The one complaint I had with my previous version was that it left black dye on everything that sat upon it. Not so with the new one. There is a period of "break-in" but its well worth the wait. Getting the seat angle right is critical to getting the pressure of the nads and onto your seat bones. I know its a personal thing, but damn, this seat is a gonad destroyer. I have tirelessly searched for a comfortable off-road saddle. Let me say, this one is near the bottom. I got this saddle at pricepont for a great price ($40). My purchase was mostly motivated by these reviews. Big mistake. First off, this saddle is extremely hard. No, I did not give it break-in time, but the thing was so uncomfortable off the bat that I doubt it could ever get much better. I will say that its shape is pretty good and its looks are phenominal. But when it comes to comfort, I just don't feel it. You should know that I am a clydesdale at 220, so maybe a teenie-ass 140 pounder would like this. But I don't think so. I have ridden on the Flite which is nearly as narrow and that doesn't bother me, although I only use that saddle on my road bike. But I did spend a Season on the c-30, which I'm sure cut my sperm count in half. THe Nisene was even more uncomfortable that the c-30! I would definitely rate the Ventura comp and the Belair well above this saddle in comfort, plus, you can get those in TI rails and they are as light or lighter. But the King of comfort (as far as a race-weight saddle) is the Flite Trans am. It supports the sit bones just enough and the cut out totally eliminates numbness. After ten minutes riding the Nisene I was numb. No saddle has ever done that to me so quickly. 5 chilis for looks, 0 for comfort. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$100.00 | | Purchased At: | Local Bike Store | | Strengths: | Looks great, solid and firm padding, cut away to allow easy off and on.
| | Weaknesses: | Rail popped out of back socket! | | Similar Products Used: | Coda, Specialized | | Bike Setup: | XT Obed w/Atom Bomb, ATAC's and 217's. | | Bottom Line: | We'll see.
This was a great saddle for me all summer--worth every penny. However, last night as I rode through a slightly rocky drop, the ti-rail popped out of the socket in back. My local shop, Grand Performance (which is alway very helpful) told me this happens occasionally but is not fixable. If so, I guess I can't justify buying it again.
They are contacting Giro NEW distributor to see what might be done. I'll post again with the final result.
Please post if you have any insights into this problem. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

It is way more comfortable than the Flite. I think this is due to its shape, which is plain.
Be careful with your choice which Nisene to buy. I bought the CroMoly version since it is much cheapier and - believe it or not - it is even 15 grams LIGHTER than the Titanium version. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Not a good design, very weak. | | Similar Products Used: | Bontrager, selle italia, specialized | | Bike Setup: | Azonic DS-1 | | Bottom Line: | This is a saddle for XC. Could really use some kevlar on the sides. Makes horrible creaking noise after a couple of bails. Wouldn't reccomend for anyone, except gram freaks who give up durability for low weight. Why? In the end, very hard and painful, creaks, not durable and would not reccomend it to anyone sane. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Also, I haven't been bothered with the dye bleeding as others have reported here. And you can move around on it at will. Best, however, is the durability----unlike the WTB, have not had a problem with the rails seperating from the seat, even in fairly hard crashes.
I believe the only folks who wouldn't like this saddle are those who like foamy cushy plumpsters, and even those folks might like it if they gave it a chance.

It took about 3 weeks to break it in. After that it felt like I added 1/2" of suspension to my hardtail. Have "biffed" a few times and luckily no real damage to it yet.The one serious flaw that I've come across is that the black dye comes off in spades every time your ass gets sweaty. I've tried mink oil, Sno-seal (wax-based) and after a year the f*****g thing STILL stains anything other than spandex shorts BLACK!! Great saddle, but it'll give you a serious case of BLACK ASS every time you ride. Four flaming trail bombs... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Elastomers seem to soak up some road vibes, can't tell any diff offroad. Bided my time and bought one off internet for good price, can't bring myself to pay as much as this costs retail. I was aware of the bleed problem before I got it (didn't wear light color shorts), once it bled, i put some mink oil on it... problem solved- also solved problem of it soakin up water. The hide is soft, and not water resistant. It didn't retain it's blue color, turned grey after a month. These are minor problems which don't detract from its overall great looks and comfy-ness. This is a good break from my ongoing search to find the perfect saddle. Keep up the good work Giro. Detract 1 flamer for probs with color bleeding. | Overall Rating: |

There is a shop in town, Chainwheel Drive in Clearwater Fl. that will let you buy and return for full exchange any sadle, as long as you don't hurt it. So I tried all the good ones they had. See (similar products) above. The price is a little steep but I have learned that you get what you pay for in quality things from good companies. As I tried them, this one was not the last one I tried, but I liked it right off. After the others I came back to it and rode it some more. After about 3 months it has gotten even more comfortable, it breaks in. I have gotten it wet and it has not blead its color, which is silver on top. There have been reports of them bleeding color, particulary black. Here in Fl we may not have the mountains, but we have a lot of sand and other soft stuff. Best way to ride it is weight back on the saddle, after a usuall 2 to 3 hour ride off road my buns are still smilling. It is the best thing I have put my butt on yet. | Overall Rating: |
