Submitted by Scott a Cross Country Rider from Beacon, NY, USA
Date Reviewed: June 24, 2004
Favorite Trail:Mt. Beacon
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $100.00
Purchased At:So long ago
Strengths:Shape, Durability
Weaknesses:NONE
Similar Products Used:Selle Italia, Bontrager, San Marco, Azonic, SDG
Bike Setup:X-10
Bottom Line:This saddle has lasted 5 bikes. I've built up new bikes and purchased new saddles with the same problem, they can not outlast this thing, and it's almost 10 years old. (purchased in 96 for my Scott Endorphine Pro-Racing = That's how I know how old it is). The thing still looks great. Fading on the Avocet name, but that's it. Anyone know where I can purchase another for my other bikes? Give this one a try, it's worth every penny. I think it's called the X-55 now.

Date Reviewed: April 8, 2004
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $90.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Lightweight. Comfortable. Easy to slide off and on back of seat due to special design.
Weaknesses:None so far.
Similar Products Used:Acocet O2 Air (Road bike seat). Selle San Marco Era.
Bike Setup:Ellsworth Truth (Cross Country dual suspension)
Bottom Line:If you like Avocet O2 Air road saddles, you'll like this one as well. The X-Country uses the same contour, padding, and leather as the O2 Air. The only difference is that the X-Country doesn't have the recessed channel of the O2 Air, and instead of a shell cutout underneath - the shell is one solid piece with a reinforcing bar running down the middle of the underside. (I assume that this is to make the saddle stronger/more durable.)

I have used Avocet seats for years. Their shape fits me well, and the padding never seems to break down. They have a good balance of light weight and comfort. I highly reccommend this saddle. It definitely worth a try since Avocet has a policy where they will refund your money if you try it out and don't think it the most comfortable seat you have ridden.
