Strengths:    didnt break,looks cool

Weaknesses:    Not well sealed. No matter how much grease you put in ,water gets in and everything starts to rust.

Bottom Line:
Ive been a bike mechanic for ten years and dont understand why a company would choose chromoly to make headsets ,wich without a doubt will rust.Headset maintenance should only have to be done when you take off the forks for maintenance. So not much more than twice a season. To keep this headset from rusting you almost have to take it apart every two weeks or after every wet rid.Ive been a longtime loyal buyer of syncros products and Ive always been verry happy with there components. But this headset is the worst component Ive ever bought from them!I do not recommend this headset to any one.

I do mainly trail riding but the occasional DH runs and I ride hard/fast. My Z1 has seen drops 15'.. W ... Read More »

2005 Z1 Fr1

On the ETA cart of the Z1, does someone know how far down the thread to screw the purple/red nut? In the service manual it simply says not to tighten. How much thread should still show? On the rebound adjust side does the same apply to the nut. Also, do I tighten the inner chamber (silver) so the ... Read More »

A Zone FR1 Update...

So yea... i've had 5 rides with my Zone in this setup now... It's just unbelieveable despite the fork still needing a little twitching here and there... However, i'm really really happy with how it turned out. I've never had the bike working soooo good before. It's back and raceworthy again with the ... Read More »

Marzocchi Z1 FR1 (2005) - spring too firm?

I got a second hand Z1 FR1 and like the fork, but it feels like the spring is too firm. I'm really light (67KG) ~150 pounds and even without any air I hardly get sag. Do they sell softer springs, or is there just something I'm missing? The seller said he has used 5W oil for it, and is somebody wh ... Read More »
