Submitted by Dennis Whitelaw a Cross Country Rider from New Orleans, US
    Date Reviewed: November 3, 2002
    Favorite Trail:numerous
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Purchased At:bike stock
    Strengths:durability!
    smooth
    strong
Weaknesses:seals could be better, the mud penetrates inside rather easily
Similar Products Used:ritchey logic (sucks!), tioga - no better. some headshok on my new cannondale
Bike Setup:Cannondale hardtail, marzochhi Z1 FR, xt, V-brakes, mavic, egg beaters
Bottom Line:don't know why others seam to dislike them. mine survived for over !!!!! 5 years. and i'm not a weekend worrior. i do up to 7000 miles a year. also i like big hits. but hade to do the proper maintance. they are only about to die now. why to spend much more for the cool King stuff when these are ok too? weird. i'll buy same ones if i they're still available on the secondary market

don't know how much they cost, but i definitely wonna give them a proper credit, therefore

Submitted by Lars Jacobsen a Cross Country Rider from Copenhagen, Danmark
    Date Reviewed: May 13, 2000
    Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Easy to install, but thats it
Weaknesses:I got mine in may ´99 and I was run down by January ´00 - after under 1000 kms of easy riding. The cups were worn down og the bearing were gone too. Its still works though, but it is only a matter of time before it must go, I cannot tolerate crappy stuff on my bike :-)
    Similar Products Used:Different generic ones.
Bike Setup:Klein, XTR/XT, Marz. Z1 cr, Magura HS-33, Fire XCpro, Giro, Profile
Bottom Line:I was looking to save a bit of cash when i bought it, but the bottom line is that its not worth it if i goes boink after half a year of easy riding. I am giving it 2 chilis in value because of the affordabillity, but only 1 in overall because of the fast wear. Will probably go for a FSA next time - but the throught of RaceFace and Chris King headsets is inviting...

Submitted by Oliver Day a Weekend Warrior from Penally
    Date Reviewed: November 23, 1999
    Duration Product Used:
    6 months
    Strengths:
    Easy to strip and regrease
    No star fangled nut
    Weaknesses:
    Threads
    Similar Products Used:
    FSA
    Ritchey Logic
    Tioga
    Modus
    Bike Setup:
    Marin HT
    RST fork
    Risers
Bottom Line:This headset is a piece of crap. I tried to take it apart, it went bang, and half the bloody threads stripped out. Also in about 3 months the bearings wore away to nothing. And it rocks.
Don't buy this lame attempt at an innovative headset, and get one from somebody who knows what they are doing. It doesn't even deserve 1 burning sh1t

Submitted by Dave Rynne a Cross-Country Rider from Ireland
    Date Reviewed: October 18, 1999
    Favorite Trail:
    Fountain park, Ennis
    Duration Product Used:
    1 Year
    Strengths:
    Light, looks good, doesnt break
    Weaknesses:
    creaks a bit(barely audible)
A right pain to take apart
    Similar Products Used:
    Crappy generic sets
    Bike Setup:
    Barricuda frame with Xt groupset
    Z1 bams
Bottom Line:Absolulely reliable. It never let me down and it has survived a lot, unlike my mavic rims, and the weight is very competetive.
Tgh to take apart for maintenance though.
