Strengths:    Though Shimano's Pro line of components are often come at a high price OR some discount clearing, the quality seems in step to its Japan's owners hyper-control. Yes, this bar is one of those combo material get-ups, but it is surprisingly light- as light as I would want in a bar and feel completely at ease safety/strength wise. And yes, it does seem right between the qualities of an aluminum bar, and a totally complete carbon bar. It had a little less sweep than what is fashionable presently, but the reach was perfect on a "set-up trail" bike sporting 140mm travel F & R and a Thomsom no setback post. It has a high gloss finish, and looks real fine as an aesthetic rate would go.

Weaknesses:    A bit high dollar for an alum-carbon put together.

Bottom Line:
If you can get this bar at a discount, which I did, and was not hard to come by- you won't be disappointed, unless your bars tend to light to heavy sweep. I didn't miss this, especially with a tight cockpit, or a shortish stem; 80 deg on down.
And though it is labeled XC, its composite nature elicits an all-around strong bar confidence, and can be the antidote to those that happen to be plain pure carbon-phobic. I am not one of those, but I still felt reassured using these, and put it through its paces; crashes and all. Just the right transmit of control, and in return not harsh.
