Favorite Trail:Cap Sauer's Holding
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:design; weight; quality
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Assorted ti bars and stems
Bike Setup:14" Litespeed
Bottom Line:WE put this on my gf's Litespeed. Yes, it's as light as you can go. Yes, its performance characteristics are outstanding (stiff yet forgiving, with knee-saving bolt position). Yes, it's expensive. But forget about all that. The MBar is the single most visually exciting upgrade you can make to your bike. Makes it look like a custom one-off, if you're into that kind of thing. Only to be sufficiently appreciated after it's installed. Hers is mounted with natural-finish ti ends from Airborne (maybe no longer available) and clear grips. Don't be concerned that there won't be room for accessories (light, cyclometer): Morati sells ti extenders that can be inserted into the MBar at the middle of the "M"! As the reviewer belows suggests: www.mrazek.com, a great company to do business with.

Date Reviewed: April 14, 2000
Favorite Trail:Morgan Hill
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Mega-light, well crafted, exotic design
Weaknesses:Spendy, exotic design
Similar Products Used:Easton C-2; Kore Lite
Bike Setup:Morati frame; Manitou SX-Carbon Forks; XTR components; Spinergy Spox M-2 wheels; Panaracer Fire X-C Pro tires.
Bottom Line:This is a new take on a retro concept: a bar/stem one piece combo made of titanium. The "M" describes its shape. The handles are attached to two pieces which are attached to the stem on either side (5 parts with 4 welds). There is no bar in the traditional sense. The total weight is 250 grams, which is less than the lightest bar stem combo I can think of (Easton C-2 bar @ 125 g. with Titec stem @ 150 g.) by about 25 grams. Unfortunately, at $300 it costs about $75 more than those two components together. So you get a beautifully put together, extremely light, exotic looking ti component at a price. It rides just fine and looks really trick on the ti frame made by the same company. The bike wants the Morati cranks at 315 g., too, but the pocketbook can't justify them (they cost as much as an entry level bike). Check out www.mrazek.com for some really cool, quality product.
