Bottom Line:
Bought these LP Composites bars from Annette's products on eBay, and couldn't be happier. I have both the DH and XC version of the hybrid carbon/Kevlar bars. The bars are amazingly light.... and very stiff..... especially if you buy the 31.8mm diameter. I would recommend that anyone looking to purchase these bars go with the 31.8mm diameter because it's much stiffer than the 25.4mm version. The look of the hybrid ( yellow and black) bars is truly awesome and trick! I can honestly say that these are the best composite bars on the market today... far superior to the other brands such as FSA, Easton, etc. Those other companies don't seem to have the quality that these LP Composites bars do. LP has been around for quite some time.... and they have a excellent customer service policy.... and the bars are guaranteed for 50 years by LP to the original buyer! I doubt I will be riding 50 years from now.... but's it's still cool they offer that kind of warranty!
Bottom line is.... if you want a uber-cool looking set of composite bars.... look no further than these LP Composites bars. I own 3 sets... and will be buying one more this weekend from Annette on eBay. 5 grilled guacamole burgers for this Bad Boy Bar! *****

This is for the XC riser bar. These bars are great deal through Annette on ebay. I use them driving an off-road tandem = no lifting the front end over obstacles and trying to steer 350lbs of mass. This bar handles it all with no complaints. It does have some noticable flex which took a bit to get used to visually. I still notice it if the trail is boring. That flex really allows the bar to reduce buzz and vibration. Strong bar and light weight. LP has a 50 year defect warranty and a 12 month free crash replacement.

Light, very comfortable. Soaks up bumps well. Looks good!
Weaknesses:
Upper-most layer of bar makes the diameter just slightly bigger than most aluminum bars, and will make removing/applying brake levers, shifters, and grips VERY difficult!
Bike Setup:
Jamis Exile 29'er SS.
Bottom Line:
I like the bar because it is nice and light, and eats-up road vibrations well. And it looks cool.
I use this bar on a Jamis Exile 29'er with a rigid fork, so a more compliant bar was a must for me. This bar does well in those regards.
But the top layer on the bar is a plastic-like substance which increases the outside diameter. This makes applying your accessories/drivetrain components incredibly difficult. I had to use a sanding bit to drill out the inside clamp diameter of my brake levers just to slide them onto the bar. And my grips were also very difficult to apply.
I am happy with the bar now. But when it comes time to upgrade anything that's attached to the bar, I won't like it very much.

Put the plugs back in, and put some shorty carbon bar-ends on. I think this is a bullet proof bar so far. NO complaints. This from an ex Cat-1 rider who's snapped a 5000 series alum bar at highway speeds. Never again. Point of contact failures suck. I'd recommend this bar. I'm definitely into the flat bar/bar end scene and LP reinforces their flat bars with a G-10 fiberglass plug. 89 bucks gets you a killer USA made carbon bar, with a killer warranty. Their flat bars a little heavier than the competition, but this is the penalty for manufacturing a bar that's bar end compatible. If you're into the riser bar scene, check out their XC and DH risers.

The LP has a fair amount of flex, and does a nice job of helping absorb those fast little stutters that the shock won't. It's great on the Raven to help out the headshock with it's limited (70 mm) travel. But, on the tracer, I think the Easton is better. It's quite a bit stiffer and gives more precise steering, and the Marzocchi doesn't need the help that the headshock does.

I've called LP just to confirm that it is safe and they have told me things to keep an eye out for to avoid failure. None have showed up. Sure, I've rotated the bar ends (also LP) once or twice, but that was my poor riding style and not a product defect. I've also tried these bars with a number of different stems and had no problems. Anyone looking for a light weight bar that has a high chi-chi factor could do alot worse than to go with LP. Remember: that's FOUR YEARS!

Flexes a little bit, but I am about 165, so it isn't an issue for me. Main thing is that my paws/wrists/shoulders aren't as beat after riding. Switched back to a aluminum bar for one ride. Gee, felt like I had my shoulder on the front tire.
I'd buy another, even for what I paid for it. If you ride cross country long distances, do your arms a favor and get this bar. It's not intended as a free ride bar, so don't expect it hold up to six foot drops, but I have crashed plenty of time with mine and no breakage yet.

Im going back to my RF 1" riser.Giving it three chilis, cuz it looks cool, but it flexes more than i'd like.

Riser bars save your back. Ah, so much better than a flat. Your racing buddies may give you crap, let them. Their backs are hurting and they aren't at the World Cup either.
Bought the bar from my LBS, trying to support a good outfit, and paid 105 for the XC, 1 inch rise, bar, but they can be found at JENSONUSA.COM for 80 USDs.
This bar so far ROCKS. Really absorbs the vibrations inherent in riding off road. Broke this spring and riding an aluminum bar reminded me every second of the fracture. No more, ridden roughly thirty miles with it, and so far dramatically lessened wrist pain and arm fatigue. I can feel it flex a bit. Obviously this bar isn't intended for DH for free ride folks, so I don't expect it to perform like one. I weight 170, but heavier, 220 plus riders might want to 2nd guess it if they're tough on bars. The Easton CT2 was MUCH stiffer and seemed to transmit more vibration than the aluminum bars I've run.
Value, if you buy it for 80 bucks, is you notice it immediately and it lets you ride longer pain free. Five flamming grenades for a bar that performs as advertised.

Broke after two weeks. I was going down RockIt over a small boulder when the right side of the straight handlebar snapped off in my hand. I pitched over the handlebars and landed on some nice big rocks which caused serious injury to my right leg and minor cuts to my right arm. Seller claimed that it was the first time he had heard of one breaking. Manufacturer is going to give me a new set of reinforced riser bars at no cost. Who says that carbon fiber doesn't break?
I probably just got a defective bar. Hopefully the new bar doesn't break the same way. I haven't been able to walk for two days since the accident.

Flat out, these are great bars. I'm using the DH model and the bend & rise is perfect for my riding. The best part of the carbon fiber is the high frequency damping. This natural attribute of CF allows me to set my fork for BIG hits and let the bars filter out the small stuff. They do flex a little but it's no big deal (more damping). As for strength, these bars have survived a few NASTY rock garden spills and are no worse for the wear. Wish I could say the same. Ride a set & see for yourself what it's all about. BTW, they do come w/ end plugs now.

Similar Products Used:
Hyperlite, Kore, Raceface (all aluminum)
Bottom Line:
DO NOT get this bar if you plan on using levers or shifters (or whatever) that tighten onto the handlebar with a wedge-type device. It will only dig into the bar and ruin it waaaaay before you can get whatever you're installing even close to snug. Of course I cleaned it thoroughly with alcohol but what I saw had little to do with that level of slippage. You just plain can't even install it without ruining the bar (I would imagine this may be a problem with all carbon fiber bars). So now we come to the rating. I actually would understand if I was not supposed to use equipment with the wedge mechanisms on this bar due to the lighweight focused nature of this bar. However, my levers are one of the lightest out there (Kooka Rachas) and they are incompatible ! What good is a super-light bar if you have to use equipment with beefy heavy full-circumference type mounts ? So... supposedly stronger and has a nice carbon fiber look. But NO lighter weight compared to Aluminum, incompatible with my light equipment, cheesy sticker-looking logo, and more expensive than aluminum. I say only 2 flaming chilies!

Aside from my local trail on the foothills, I've riden Porcupine Rim, Slickrock and Gemini Brides in the Moab area, each presenting a different challenge test for the bars. Suffice it to say, I am thoroughly impressed. The bars provide greater control in steering and most significantly anti vibration dampening, from high speed ruts to jarring rocky trails. In comparison, the LP is stronger than the Easton Monkey Lite, owing possibly to the 30 addl. grams. Considering all the bickering about the Easton warranty problems, the LP is a superior product.

Congratulations, they advertised their DH bar at 220 gms and guess what, that's what it actually weighed. The best part is not the weight but the shock absorbtion qualities of the bar. Nice and light, great flex and the composite gripped pretty well with a little screen. They also looked pretty cool while they worked. The problem turned out to be the portion of the end where the bar ends were clamped (notice this is all in the past tense.) One day I was climbing up a fairly steep section and all of a sudden, no warning, I had the left bar end in my hand, about one foot above the bar. Oh well, I've broken bars before, but usually with a little warning. So, I call LP composites, also in So. Cal, they quote me a special crash price which is more than they retailed for, and I told them what they can do with the remainder of the bars. So much for good ol' American customer service.

I don't know what those jokers at MBA were talking about, but this bar has never budged in my stem. Obviously, it is way light(helped get my ride under twenty-two poudnds) and cool looking, and from what I've seen it is one of the strongest carbon bars out there. I had a Syncros aluminum bar before this, and it worked well enough, but I crimped the ends with bar ends. The LP has a bit more flex than the Syncros; I like the feeling, and it's not so much that the bar has a vague feeling, like some ti bars. The best thing I can say is that I would buy it again(which is saying a lot considering how fickle minded I am when it comes to bike components). Five chilis all the way.

I am using the LP-B3 bars, and LP Braids bar ends on my single-speed. Yes they were expensive. I contacted LP to inquire about the bar slippage that has been reported here, and in a magazine. They told me to wipe the bars clean with alcohol, to make sure there isn't ANY grease or oil at the stem, and bar end, contact points. They recommend AGAINST using locktite. The alcohol seems to have worked well, and my bars don't appear to be slipping at all. I have noticed that the LPs flex a bit more than my old pair alloy bars, but at the same time, I'd say this is helping the bike absorb some of the shock that got past my suspension fork. I have absolutely no complaints about these bars, except to say that the trails would be alot safer if other riders would spend more time looking at the trail, and less time gawking at my bars. This is one piece of beautiful, bike-techno-geekery that I would recommend to anyone who wants something expensive to hold on to while they ride, and are starved for attention from fellow MTB Geeks.

Okay I'll admit it. I went WAY overboard to get a cool looking, lightweight, riser bar. Here's my excuses. It's 230 grams (LP DH Bar) which is less than my last handle bar + bar ends (ignoring the extra cable length). It sweeps back nice, it's wide, and it's a durable space age! material. Now the real story, you COULD get a flat bar with more sweep and a higher stem and keep the bar ends that you are now addicted to. 50-100 grams more on a aluminum bar would not kill you if you HAD to get a riser bar and you'd be saving probably $50. But there's a thing I can't describe here. I just like riding my bike more and it's because of this damn bar. It's kind of like having a good leather coat that you know you look good in. Why wear something thats not rain proof, that you can't wash, may get stolen, etc.? It's not super functional but you just like it. Same way with these bars. If I got to pick again, I'd buy em again.

I bought the B5 bar. I previously have the bar ends and love 'em, so I thought I'd buy the handlebar to match. The first problem was I couldn't keep the bar from slipping in the stem. It tightend it using extra leverage on the allen key but I could never seem to keep it from slipping when I pulled hard on the bar-ends. I was afraid to tighten too much and break the damn thing. Next I crashed and the very end where the bar ends clamp down broke, more like a tear, so that the bar end was still attached but was wiggling around when pressed. Oh well I guess you can't expect everything to survive a crash. Though I really believe that an aluminum bar wouldn't have failed like that. So I bought a Syncros!
