Date Reviewed: January 15, 2001
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Works as advertised, good manuf. quality
Similar Products Used:Bontrager, Answer, Ritchey
Bottom Line:Got mine on clearance after realizing I needed a taller bar with more sweep & the Icon fit the bill. I like 8-9 degree sweep, hate flat bars & bar ends, and the Icon feels good to me. Since my purchase other friends have gotten this bar & have been very satisfied.

Favorite Trail:I don't know let
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:supergo.com
Strengths:Strong, Nice finish
Weaknesses:sightly heavy
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:khs sport Lx, xt combo
Bottom Line:It is extremly strong even strong enough to hold my weight (210 lb.) with bar ends and still have no flex at all. I don't see how you could bend the thing. I will never need a new handle bar due to breakage.

Submitted by Joe a Cross Country Rider from Grand Rapids, MI
Date Reviewed: May 26, 2000
Favorite Trail:Ft Custer
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Stiff, Cheap
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Scott Carbon Fiber, Cheap OEM Alloy
Bike Setup:Giant ATX 880, Manitou SX, XT, Race Face, Time, Etc.
Bottom Line:This is the third handlebar I have had on my current bike. The stock alloy bar that came with the bike was fine, but I felt that I needed something lighter. I swithed to a Scott carbon fiber bar with intergrated bar-ends. It was quite a bit lighter, but very flexy. I decided I needed something with a bit more stiffness. The Icon was on sale, so I scooped it up.

It has been great! I'm sure it is heavier than the Scott, but I don't notice it on the trail. It took me about a week to get used to the increased width. I adjusted my climbing style to compensate for the lack of bar ends. I would not go back to a flat bar!

Buy this bar if:
1. You want to experiment with a riser bar. For $20 from Supergo, how can you go wrong?
2. You need a wider bar.
3. You need a stiff bar.

Don't buy this bar if:
1. You know how much your crank bolts weigh. This is not the lightest bar in the world.
2. You think riser bars are a fad.
3. You need a narrow bar.

Good luck and ride on!

Submitted by Matt a Weekend Warrior from Berkeley, CA
Date Reviewed: December 6, 1999
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
light, inexpensive
Weaknesses:
anodized (shows scratches easily)
Similar Products Used:
Zoom 170
Bike Setup:
Airborne Lucky Strike w/Icon stem and seatpost
Bottom Line:Good solid handlebar. It's cheap, light, and long enough (580mm) that even with my 44 chest I don't feel cramped. I'm probably going to cut it down a little bit, just to conform to my personal riding style, but it's a helluva lot better than having a too-short bar and have to send it back.
