Strengths:    ~ Light, at 154g actual weight(685mm)
~ Stiff Taperwall construction
~ Perfect 9-degree sweep, for 29er applications
~ Lock-on grip reinforcement
~ High quality, unidirectional carbon layup produces zero voids
~ Easton's superb reputation for carbon sporting goods development(Hockey Sticks, Golf Clubs, etc.)
~ Best bang-for-the buck carbon flat bar, wider than 600mm

Weaknesses:    If absolute perfection is any form of weakness...then this bar is saturated with it.

Bottom Line:
I am fortunate my best friend owns two LBS. When shopping for a carbon flat bar - I was lucky to sample virtually every carbon flat bar produced, by major manufacturers. I tested each handlebar on real-world trails.....and not some random parking lot. I measured weight, stiffness under power, torsional flex, on technical terrain, vibration damping and overall dollar value, based on factory warranties offered. I am NOT a professional product tester, endorsing any brand's product!

Coming in at a mere 155g on the Pelouze digital scale - this Easton bar has come quite a long way. The last Easton carbon product I tested was the 2009 Monkey Lite riser, with Carbon Nano Tube technology(CNT). The new Easton EC70 XC Wide, with Taperwall....has Herculean stiffness, compared to the former CNT product(which I broke, under normal testing). Easton now makes the 31.8mm clamp area a beefy, 10mm all-around, gently tapering to 3mm where the grips are. The ultra high modulus layup is now cured under extreme pressure, providing a dense, lightweight product that has virtually zero resin voids.

Out on the trail - this equates to superior vibration absorption; muting the most violent, jarring impacts to a mere tremor. Standing stiffness under power is maybe not quite as stiff as the Niner Flat Top RDO carbon bar...but it adequately maintains the same stiffness as the Enve Composites SWP bar.

Considering the MSRP of the above-mentioned carbon flat bars...the Easton EC70 is an absolute bargain, at less than half the cost.
