Favorite Trail:Kalepa
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:Pricepoint.com
Strengths:Relatively lightweight, great bend, perfect width
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Specialized Enduro
Bike Setup:06 Specialized FSR XC Comp, Nevegal 2.1 stick-e, Easton XC2 wheels, Avid Juicy 7
Bottom Line:I fell in love with this bar on the first ride! This review is for the 2008 mid-rise version and is 27 inches wide with a 31.8 clamp section. It's 2 inches wider than my cut down enduro bar and that alone has made a difference. Handling is not twitchy anymore and now I can place my brake levers and shifters further in (Or grips further out...depends how you look at it)on the bar for optimal fit and single finger braking. Totally changes the feel of the bike for the better. Will buy another for my other bike for sure! Should fit the bill for all MTB riders out there...buy it, you won't be disappointed!

Strengths:So far soooooo good.
Weaknesses:none that I see yet
Bottom Line:A thousand times better then my stock handlebar that I bent in one fell swoop. These Monkey rise feel like they will stand the test of time. I gained a phenomenal amount of control after adding them and they have given me a new sense of confidence. I had no idea the extra length would make such a difference. I was skeptical of Easton, never buying a bike component made from them before. But know I’m sold.

Weaknesses:NONE

Bottom Line:These are the best handlebars hands down (except maybe easton CNT bars) I run them on both my dh bike and on my dirt jumper. they have survived many crashes to still be straight. The pair on my dh bike is 2 years old and is still going strong. If you are looking to save weight look no further than these, they are truly light enough for cross country, yet strong enough for dh. If you are looking for new handle bars look no further than theses! you wont be disappointed.

Bottom Line:Incredable product. Can't beat it, unless you want to go to CNT, which I don't cos I don't dig the carbon vibe. These bars have to be one of the best bike parts I have ever bought. BUY SOME! You won't regret it. I think its also worth pointing out that they are T6 heat treated which means they won't bend in a hurry, unlike alot of bonty and truativ bars.

Favorite Trail:Dirt Merchant
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:Phat Moose Cycles
Strengths:Somewhat light, nice wide bars, great sweep-back angle and geometry to load the front-end in corners, great feeling pulling back into wheelies, seems pretty tough so far
Weaknesses:Could be carbon fibre I suppose . . . but then they'd be sketchy and really expensive. They also tend to jam between trees on tight XC singletrack because they're so friggin' wide!
Similar Products Used:Titec Hellbent, Kona XC risers from the late 90s, Specialized Demo bars, Easton EA50 Monkeybars
Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Heckler with Sherman Flick Plus, Kona Cinder Cone with Vanilla 125R
Bottom Line:These handlebars rock! I rode some Titec Hellbents for three years and never realized how much the handlebars can improve your ride. These feel so much better and beg to pushed hard into corners. It's as if you can feel your weight loading the front-end . . . it's a great feeling connecting with your bike. They also facilitate wheelies and bunny hopping. Never would have thought the handlebars were worth spending good money until I tried them. They're worth paying extra money over the more generic stuff.

Bottom Line:This bike rides pretty light, but is set up to take a beating. These bars fit right in with the program. I actually had this bike set up single speed for a while. These bars are awesome for wrestling a single speed uphill. I had Ea50s on another bike. EA70s the same bars, only lighter and more expensive. I was afraid these might flex too much, but it hasn't been a problem. If you want to save a few bucks the 31.8 EA50s are also excellent.

Weaknesses:None. Maybe too wide?
Similar Products Used:Syncros Riser, Performance SL140 flat bar, Performance ACT Carbon Bar
Bike Setup:IRO Mia! rigid single speed with Oury grips, disc brakes, and big all-mountain tires
Bottom Line:A nice, wide riser that gives me plenty of leverage when cranking up the hills or carving single track (and they look cool, too). The bar may be too wide for some, but it can be trimmed to length. These aluminum bars flexes little and will transmit most of the bumps to your hands, so put on some comfortable grips. Take it FWIW because I use them on a rigid bike.

Bottom Line:after having a carbonfiber seatpost break during the middle of a ride, it just doesn't make sense to have anything carbon fiber on a bike that receives occasional hits on rocks, drops and assorted trail abuse. These bars do what they are suppose to do, would hopefully bend and not break when they are stressed to fail. Cost is spot on for the quality.

Strengths:Length, 1" low rise design, the Easton name, look.
Weaknesses:I haven't taken it on a narrow single track yet, but the length could present a problem. Hopefully, not because the length gives added control.
Similar Products Used:Just a stock flat bar with bar ends.

Bottom Line:Whoa! I am Jack's utter amazement... I just got back from my first hard ride with my new EA70 riser and I cannot believe how much it helped my riding. Uphill my line was so much cleaner. Downhill, of course, I felt like I could bomb down anything. I never would have guessed what a huge difference handlebars make. The bar looks bad ass really proud to have it on my rig.

I used a flat bar and bar ends for two years before finally going to a riser. I picked this one because it was chosen to be on Cannondale's flag ship Jekyll. I ride a 2002 Jekyll and I figured that if it were good enough for a $4000 bike it was good enough for me. Plus I found it on eBay for a good price.

XC gram counters poo-poo strength-to-weight penalties of this DH specific equipment. Hey, gravity works.

These Bars are a great value. Buy 02/03 closeouts or eBay buys. don't pay 04 msrp unless you're running the new 31.8mm bars.

EA70 DH Bars will give you reliable performance in the toughest conditions.

Come to Bootleg Canyon runs & see what DH equipment is up against. Can you say "Poop Chute" (PoopShoot)? EA70 DH have consitently passed muster with honors (Yesterday, I wrecked just three times on Kavorkian...EA70's still straight and tickin')

Cut the bar down 3/4" on each side...just a little too wide for me. Well...I feel alot better on the bike. Handeling is a little different but not so much that I can't adjust to it. Much easer to go down hill. This is definetly the way to go, espically on a Sugar because of the longer top tube. Got the bar at Helens for 60 clams (such a deal). Also got Yeti Hard Core grips. Bottom Line:Great bar for DHing or freeriding. I use it on my trials rig and it is excellent. 27" wide is plenty for me and it is light. Kind of expensive for a bar but it has not caused any problems for me yet. Lacks the lines in the middle of the bar so that it can tell you if the bar is centered or not. Grips do not stick very well to the bar so knurling may be better on the grip area.

Bottom Line:The width of this bar give you the ultimate feel of complete control. I love this bar - it rocks! Had a straight bar for too long, and I am now so converted. This is a light bar for the price and I would recommend it to anyone who seeks greater control. I have riden down mountains, pulled huge superfly jumps, and seriously crashed and these bars seems to withstand anything. Just chop 3/4 inch off each side and you'll avoid being real scared of going through tiny gaps. I love it. Light, strong, and buckets of control. Bargain!

Bottom Line:YOU MIGHT WANT TO CUT ABOUT 3/4 OFF OF EACH SIDE. THE WIDTH GIVES YOU A LOT OF CONTROL ON THE DOWNHILLS AS WELL AS THE UPHILLS. I,VE CRASHED A FEW TIMES AND BESIDES A FEW SCRATCHES THEY STILL LOOK LIKE NEW.

Bottom Line:I LIKE 'EM!!!! These are awesome! the control I have with these is incredible. I run mine full length, and the leverage is amazing. These open up my chest, and leave my arms in a natural bent attack position to move the bike around. Climbing is easier with these than with my flat/bar ends before. I find myself drifting off line alot less with these, and its much easier to pick up the front end and put it where it needs to go, even on loose technical climbs. And Downhill, I can really let it hang out. On my old flats I always felt squirrely on the downhills, but now I always know where my bike is going. These bars inspire alot of confidence when doing drop offs, even from chainring bashing heights. They have totally redefined what and how I ride. A big claim, but the difference is night and day between these and any flats, even those with a higher stem. Also, I've plowed these into boulders, and the ground pretty hard with nary a whimper. I don't even worry about these breaking or bending, which was a big worry with the old hyperlites. BTW did I mention that I like these bars?

Duration Product Used:

Strengths:
light, stiff, wide, gives a great sense of control, you can slice and dice singletrack really easy,
Weaknesses:
wide(i measured it at 28 inches. perfect for a downhill bike, but an inch sorter would be good for xc)
Similar Products Used:
22 inch flat bar
Bike Setup:
manitou sxr fork, 130mm, 10degree rise stem
Bottom Line:i like this bar a helluva lot. not only does it make my bike look incredibly cool, plus i feel like a downhiller. and when i'm slicing down a narrow, new england downhill, i have 400% control over the front of the bike. there's bunches of leverage on uphills to get up that super steep, mile long climb. this bar kicks ass, but you may want to cut off an inch or two. on the other hand, it's perfect for downhill riding. buy this bar! its got the easton metal reputation, and kicks ass. buy it!

Light Weight
Too much Flex

Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:The bar works great for cross country, but the flex reduces control in the tough sections, which is where you need control the most! After two crashes in three rides, I went back to a metal bar.Don't over tighten your brakes, bar ends or clamp or it will crack the bar. Super glue may work as a repair though.Probably a good bar for XC use, but don't buy if you like to hammer the downhills.

Bottom Line:If you ever missed that off road motorcycle feel at the handlebars, this bar is for you. The 27 width is great--the rise and angle are perfect. For a long travel, full suspension bike, this bar gives extreme control. It's a strong, durable bar too. Probably the best riser bar available.

Bottom Line:I have the 2 rise and cut the width down from 27 to 26. The technical steering & stability is excellent in both climbing and descending. I mentioned the slight flex as a weakness above, but it shouldn't be a consideration as this bar has taken all I've dished out. It's even a hair lighter than my former flat bar setup even though it's 3 wider. The fact that this extra width makes it a little hairy threading through tight stuff does not diminish it's rating...5 stars.

Bottom Line:

Had mine for about two months....what a difference from my old flat bar set up. I fell much more connected to my front contact patch, really stable with my bomber Z2. Feels like my old honda XR250!! They are real wide so I hacked an inch off each side (still wider than my old setup). Had risers back in '84......why did I ever leave um? Fads are a weird thing.
