Date Reviewed: November 9, 2000
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Cyclepath
Strengths:Strong, brace makes it look way better, good for xc riding also
Weaknesses:brace come loose too often
Bottom Line:These are great bars to use for xc and trials. I haven't used it w/ DH yet cause I don't have an FS bike. I use these bars mainly for xc and urban as well as a little trials. They hold up very good. No cracks so far and the orange color is killer with red lizard skins grips. The rise I find is not bad but not good on steep uphills. I had to tilt the bar forward a little bit than the normal setup so that I can get stretched out in the cockpit. Otherwise, this is one of the best products that I have ever used.

Bottom Line:The bars will hold up for about two years of heavy duty, go fast, big drop, lots of speed, weekend warrior stuff. I ended up cracking both the brace and the bar. The crossbar is pretty strong though. I didn't even know that it was cracked until i took the remaining pieces of the bar off of my bike.

PURCHASED A CLUB ROOST GO FAST XC RISER BAR FROM SUPERGO. 25mm RISE, CUT TO 24, 9deg. SWEEP. TOTALLY PERFECT FOR XC RIDING. JUST ENOUGH RISE SO YOU'RE NOT TOO STRETCHED OUT. GIVES MY BIKE A BALANCED FEEL. WITH LESS RISE & CUT TO 24, THE BARS ARE STIFF, DON'T NEED A BRACE AT ALL. WEIGHT IS JUST A BIT HEAVIER THAN FLAT BARS. IF YOU DO XC & LIKE TO TRY A RISER, GET THIS BAR. I THINK A RISER W/ 1.5 OR MORE, MAKES STEERING SLOW. WITH JUST UNDER 1, IT STEERS JUST AS QUICK AS FLAT BARS. OTHER RISER BAR MFG. TAKE NOTE, YOU WANT SALES TO THE XC CROWD WHO WANT A RISER, MAKE ONE W/ A RISE UNDER 1. TOTALLY SWWWWEEEEETTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought, the comp II bar, that comes with the x-brace. What can I say, just an absolutely fabulous bar. The rise is just right (1.5) and these bars increase the control I have over my bike sooooooooooo dramatically. They are fairly heavy for the weight conscious, but hell whats an extra 100 g in the big scheme of things. So toss away your flats and bar ends and buy a pair of these schweeet thangs.

Bottom Line:

This bar is great. I got it off someone at the marketplace for $18 and it was in like new condition. I bought it because my friends was a little too small and I'm worried about my bike. I only wanted the rise but it turns out that the wider length helps a lot with control and breathing. I also didn't add any extra weight because I had a heavy steel flat bar. This bar is actually pretty light for a Riserbar (316grams at Cambriabike.com). Gives my bike a whole new comfortable feeling. Not to mention the fact that the black with the silver brace looks great too. I give it 5 stars.

Looks great and feels great. I get a more upright cycling position and don't have too worry too much about back problems anymore. Crashed it several times and it's still straight and everything. Improved the looks of my bike a lot too. Don't notice too much about the steering... I just like the rise and the design with the top brace.

This is a cheap downhill bar. Look to other brands, such as Azonics. I had a Club Roost on for less than 2 weeks and replaced it. Finish is also poor. Save your money and look into other bars that are available. (I need 50 words for post, hope this makes the magic number now.)

Bottom Line:

I have had a Club Roost Downhill bar with 2.5 in rise for about 4 months now. I've had no problems at all with it. It is heavy, so if your a weight weenie, you might want to steer clear of this bar. Also, I wish that Club Roost would MIG weld the cross bar in place, because for one it would look better, and two, the bolts that they use for the cross bar are soft and will strip after only a few good hard torques on them.

I put this riser bar on to my jumping bike, it has held up well, considering the low price. The bar comes with a top brace that seems to give the bar more strength and support. I am primarily a cross-country rider, but I don't see why you couldn't put this bar on a downhill ride. p.s. remember kids, team you decide rules!! Come to Minnesota and check out some trails that will blow you away, at least for the midwest!!

These are CRAP!! How dare Club-Roost call them risers bars when they have such little rise? Most good bars have about 2 inches but these only have 1.
They are not that wide either and they are so weak! I like a bit of trials and when backhopping of an 8 foot wall they bent by about 30 degrees on the right hand side. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!!!

Bottom Line:

These are great riser bars - good handling, the riding position ain't too high; used with the highrise stem that I have still doesn't make it excessively high, even with 3.5 travel in the forks. Good for singletrack downhill - good width, which makes it excellent for sharp cornering at warp speed. Good for tricks and jumps too - much more control than a standard flat bar, thanks to the extra width and the rise. Overall, a brilliant set of bars.
Five from me.

Since I was a pro atv racer a riser bar is all i've ever raced. when I found these I was excited to see someone finally made a mtb riser.i never did really like straight bars, just was stuck with them. love the bars! strong, no flex, light, cool cross bar, but the bolts strip easy. Do the elastomers really work in the crossbar? don't know cool gimmick. my bar ends crushed them a little. definately a must for any full suspension mount. got mine at frankford in niles, oh cheap!!! only like 35 dollars! they come in yellow...cool! but it is a little pale compared to other yellows. printed logos on bars rub off pretty easy, finish taking them off with brake or contact cleaner.

The bar is great and all; no flex, all that could stuff. The only problem I had with it was the bolts for the cross brace. They were twinky little things that stripped easily. also, I think the big go-fast logos plastered all over the bar are a little cheasy, I scratched out the f and the s so it says goat. whatever. its a good bar for cheap and the bolts are easily replaced

Bottom Line:

This bar looks great. I have not noticed any flex. Probably a great bar, but I don't like the up-high riding position. With the 9 degree bend and the rise I am too high and too far back on the bike. I feel like my front wheel is floating off the ground. It becomes worse when climbing. Don't get me wrong. I love 40 mph fire road decents and bombing down (empty) singletrack. But so far (50+ miles) the minus's are out-numbering the plus's for my riding style. The moral of the story: Don't just assume you'll like something because your buddies are using it. Four chilies cause it's a good product. It just was not for me. P.S. Still looking for 24 aluminum flat bar that will give me more room without putting me up in the statosphere. I'm built like a gorilla (long arms and wide shoulders) and I'm just looking for a little more space. That's why I tried this bar in the first place.

THE ANSWER...Club Roost Hanbdle bars. The concept of a riser bar for X-country is simple. Better handling on downhills and also in technical single tracks. And your back and neck will feel much better (get the reenforcement bar off) you don't need it for x-country and it will save a lot of wait!Bravo for the concept

Hey, what happened to the Trials Rider option?I'll confess that the Club Roost are the first rise bars that I've purchased, but I'm had absolutly no problems with them. I went for the super-wide trials model and with hopping around, dropping off ledges, heck I even strapped about 40lbs of groceries to each end (who needs a car in the city) - I haven't noticed any give.Again, a non-comparison rating, but no matter what I do they don't move. Gotta love that.

i got these bars from a friend brand new for 8 bucks. he got them like at interbike or something. no problems whatsoever, but then again, i weigh like 140 and tend not to put a lot of stress on anything no matter how hard i ride. heavier people should stay away from these unless they have that little crossbar thingy. but hey, its just a handlebar, and it seems pretty nice, and one time i fell on concrete and it made sparks. so that was neato.

Absolutely the worst/ weakest riser bar on the market. There is way too much flex when you go off jumps with these things. These so called DH bars suck. I own the 1.5 rise bars andi love them, they give me more confidence on all my rides because i know they won't break. They put me in the perfect condition when I am downhilling, so I can go faster and do it with more confidence. I like riding uphill on them because it gets my weight on the rear wheel better. The only problem with this set up is that if the hill is steep, my front wheel wanders if I don't put a lot of weight on it. Besides that, they are awesome. I have a more open stance on the bar, so I breathe better, and this wide stance also helps me when I am bunnyhopping, or doind things like that. Overall, these are great bars, if you are considering risers, these are great. Sure they weigh a bit more than standard (read weak, not cool) bars, but who really thinks about weight before function and improved riding? no one who is serious about mountain biking!!! Plus, colors, need I say more.

This bar has just enough rise (1.5) and sweepback to make
any bike feel like a motocross bike. MAJOR CONTROL FACTOR.
Worries-- The bolt on crossbar is useless unless it is tightened
down just right or you will create hot spots on the bar as
it flexes, beware. HAa just kidding, go get one.....
Oh yes, bar ends look silly but you can really romp on them
with a wider bar--your choice, but flat bars suck!
