$4.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Didn't break yet. | | Weaknesses: | Weight and labelling. | | Similar Products Used: | Haro, JD Components, Kalloy, etc | | Bike Setup: | Hardtail crap | | Bottom Line: | I purchased the IDB-150 model, printed on the bar was the inscription:
165 grams
I put in on my weighing scale it tipped 180 grams!!! This is false advertisement! Do not buy Club Roost products!
If I'm gonna bonk on my next ride the extra 15 grams on this bar is to blame!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from State College Date Reviewed: June 13, 2002 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Strengths: | Very stiff, has a nice bend to it that makes it comfortable on the wrists | | Weaknesses: | Finish is slippery, not much room to mount things | | Similar Products Used: | Answer HyperLite, Specialized, Bontrager Crowbar | | Bike Setup: | '98 Cannondale SuperV 900Comp, DD60 Headshok, Spinergy Spox, Magura Racelines, Race Face cranks | | Bottom Line: | When I bought the bike off a friend (replacing my high end steel bike with over 25,000 miles on it), this is the bar he had put on it. I've broken two handlebars before through fatigue, so the brace looked promising. The wall diameter of the bar is pretty high (I think around 3-4mm, would have to measure for sure), which makes it pretty stiff, but not very light. One thing you won't notice immediately from looking at the bar is how much room is taken away by the neding of the bar itself. The brace takes away a lot of the room for a computer (I use a Sigma Sport Targa, which mounts on the stem, works great), but I can mount my Cateye dual-beam lights w/o a problem. The finish on the bar itself makes it very slippery with all grips I've tried, so I bought a set of clamp-on ODI grips, and they work very well. Overall the bar is very stiff, and very durable. I weigh around 205, and I've competed in quite a few XC and downhill races with the bike. If I were to replace it I would probably go with an Easton Monkey riser bar, seems to be a good product if you can find it. For the cost of the Club Roost (retail around 35 in the shop I work in) it's a good buy if you're looking for something strong. Overall rating is down because of the limited amount of space on the bar, and the fact that it's almost necessary to use clamp-on grips. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

i havent had any problems with the impact brace, but my bars came with 2 little rubber washers, probably to remedy this loosening problem, and my bolts have stayed tight, althought they have started to rust slightly, but my bike stays out all day at a train station in all weathers as i commute | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from sunny england Date Reviewed: March 5, 2002 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Strengths: | very cheap, comes with optional brace, range of colours | | Weaknesses: | slight creaking from teh brace, fixed by greasing. apart from that they look a little thin to inspire confidence when used for a long time. | | Similar Products Used: | tioga risers, worldforce risers | | Bottom Line: | excellent bars. in about 5 years of riding I haven't found a set of bars that match me as well as the club roost's. they have a nice easy sweep in them and are just about long enough to feel really good. just stick on and enjoy teh improved ride! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from West Sacramento, CA Date Reviewed: March 4, 2002 | | Favorite Trail: | Hole in the Ground | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Purchased At: | Aardvark Cycles - aardvarkcycles.com | | Strengths: | Stiff, came with cross bar but I never used, came long enough so you can cut off if necessary. | | Weaknesses: | Bland looks, nothing more. | | Similar Products Used: | Used flat bar prior, just bought new Race Face air alloy low risers. | | Bike Setup: | Intense Tracer, Race Face SYStem, Race Face ISIS LP w/RF BB, Race Face post, XT shifters, Machine Tech levers, XTR v brakes, Machine Tech hubs w/Sun rhyno lites, XT drivetrain, | | Bottom Line: | I think they kicked ass considering the abuse they got, three weeks in Moab, Downieville, Rubicon, and other fine resorts.
I didn't care too much for the cross bar, plus i didn't want to bash my knee on it if i bailed. I painted them black after a couple years and masked off the Club Roost brand, turned out fine. I wrecked a few times but never bothered the bars. The rise and sweep were great for XC riding, anything higher and it would have been uncomfortable. I cut mine to 25" from 27".
If you're looking for a good pair of bars consider these. I got them in silver but i'm sure they come in black by now. I won them through mtbr.com and got them from Aardvark. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$50.00 | | Purchased At: | Charnock Richard, Nr Wigan | | Strengths: | Really strong, great price | | Weaknesses: | I originally used to get an un-nerving cracking sound from the brace, this was fixed by using a dab of grease between the bar and the brace | | Bottom Line: | Great, cheap bar... No problems really with this. I use it for everyday riding but its more than strong enough for DH... One annoying thing is that the brace means you struggle to fit a cycle computer or light bracket. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
