Submitted by John a Weekend Warrior from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Date Reviewed: February 12, 2007
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $15.00
Purchased At:D'Ornellas Bike Shop (1999) & Pedal Performance (2002)
Strengths:An upgraded set of grips to replace the stock GT grips on my 1996 GT Ricochet & stock Bontrager Ergo grips on my 2001 Trek Fuel 90 Dsik. Soft compound for comfort and cushioning.
Weaknesses:Rotates on handlebar a little to easily.
Similar Products Used:Stock GT grips on my 1996 GT Ricochet & stock Bontrager Ergo grips on my 2001 Trek Fuel 90 Dsik.
Bike Setup:1996 GT Ricochet & 2001 Trek Fuel 90 Disk.
Bottom Line:A very good soft compound grip with cushioning that lasts for years. A reasonable price with four colours to choose from (clear, yellow, red or black). I have these on both of my bikes in the black colour. If you want, you can check out my reviews for "D'Ornellas Bike Shop" & "Pedal Perfomance" in the Bike Shop reviews section of this website (Bike Shop Reviews/Ontario/store name).
Bottom Line: The best grips that I've used to date. Even better then the Bontrager Ergo's that came stock on my 2001 Trek Fuel 90 Dsik.

Purchased At:friend
Strengths:these are good grips, soft and tacky, and small enough to feel the bars
Bottom Line:Ignore all the reviews of people not using gloves. If you actually ride on dirt you should always wear gloves. The people that don't tell me two things 1. they are stupid and do not possess the IQ necessary to submit an accurate review, or 2. they don't actually ride on anything that is difficult. These grips are good and will wear out. Bike stuff does not last forever. If you want something to last forever take up chess.

Strengths:-really good grip (what more could you ask for)
Weaknesses:none yet
Bottom Line:These grips are really tacky, soft, and grippy. They are the best I have ever used. I few people mentioned that they wear quickly, but I have had mine for two years and I ride just about every day, so they have held up great. Its time now to replace them, but I am going to get them again. Its a good all around grip.

Similar Products Used:Onza, Serfas, nothing else in the past 6 years!

Bottom Line:I've had these grips on all of my MTB's for the past 6 years. They rock. Nice and think for a little vibration dampening. Excelent grip even when wet and muddy. And occastionally you can find them in various colors for a little flair. Plus they last forever, I just realized I've had a pair on my XC bike for the past 4 years and after a little cleaning with Simple Green they're as good as new. Look in the bargan bin or dark back corner of your shop and you'll find a pair, a good deal.

Date Reviewed: May 1, 2001
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $12.00
Strengths:These grips are really nice. I have had these for about a month now and I really like them. The grips a very comfortable and grippy almost tacky and are a nice improvement over my stock grips, they also look cool with the large YETI logo.
Weaknesses:I can a slight bit of wear around the edges but nothing to get worried about. Also some of the color ( I have the red ones) will turn light black from your gloves after some miles on them. I have found that when you wash and clean you bike, a wet lightly soapy rag will clean this off quite nicely.
Similar Products Used:Bontrager grips that came stock on the bike
Bike Setup:98 Trek 8000 with Marzochi Z-2 atom 80 XTR brakes and R.der otherwise pretty much stock.
Bottom Line:I bought these grips without hearing much about them. They immediately felt much nicer than the stock ones I had. If these wear out quicker than those I don't really care, they feel much better and a $12 a pair I guess I will be helping out my local shop

Bottom Line:I've noticed a lot of responses commenting on loose grips. Evidently you people have little experience with this. First, clean the grip and bar with brake cleaner(use carefully as it is a effective paint remover) then either use rim cement or 3m weatherstrip adhesive, use judiciously don't be a slob. If you do as I reccomend you not experience any problems, guaranteed.

Well this review is for the Yeti HardCores. I bought mine for 10 bones. They are nice, soft and just the right bit tacky. I observed that when I use gloves, the Hardcores tend to build up black gooey lint along the borders of the raised design, presumably from the gloves, thus discoloring them. One good ride without gloves and the bright red color immediately returns tho. Overall I like these grips. Who cares if they build up glove lint? Bikes pick up dust too. You don't see anyone crying for a dustproof bike.

The regular old YETI grips are great and I love them. They get a 4 stat rating from me (they still wear out a bit to fast). But I like warning people, so do not get the new ones that cost about $14 and have the duel mixture. As soon as they get wet they turn, but dont shift. Hairspray, gasoline ... only superglue finally worked I do not like using superglue on a bike. If it's dry they still feel nice. At least something!

these grips suck. I put them on my bike for 17.95 (they had the gs grips, too) and the first time they got wet, they gave a new meaning to Grip Shift. and it took three days to ride. the aggressive styling of the grip had my attention until they shredded my axo half finger gloves.

I guess this isn't the right place to post for yeti hardcore, but it's the closest to it. I bought a pair at $13, expensive for grips, and put them on my bike. Almost immediately they gummed up, making a black goop-like covering that is impossible to remove. Within a month they had fallen apart to the point that they were almost falling off my bike. I would definitely recommend the ATI hot links, no complaints whatsoever.

Date Reviewed: September 28, 1998
Bottom Line:

I had tried many grips before putting these grips on my bike. They looked cool when I bought them, so that should have been my first concern. I installed them using hairspray, like every other mechanic worth a darn does, and they slid on nice. The problem is they still slide on and off real easy. I have them installed on salsa handle bars, and they just won't stay put. There is nothing more irritating than getting to the top of a long climb, and have your grip half way off. Others I have asked said to put zip ties on them to keep them in place. What good does it do to get soft grips if you have to put hard plastic on them to keep them in place.

I would have to say that these are the softest grips ever. The feel fantastic both with and without gloves. I have used then for both long rides and downhill, which is probably what suits them best, they really help your hands recover from those larger rocks on the downhill course. They do however have a rather short life span, probably no more than eight months or so.

Date Reviewed: April 28, 1998
Bottom Line:

First off...I think these grips are alright if you use Gloves...If you're going to ride the trail, it's a really smart idea to wear gloves. More than anything else, they protect your hands in crashes and other minor mishaps. That set aside I really do like these grips. I've had Yeti's now for about 1 1/2 years. I put the newer soft ones on about three months ago. The first thing I noticed was a markable decrease in hand numbness (IE.. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome). The texture of the grips are such that they don't slip. This can help prevent that accident which could really screw up your hands from not wearing gloves. If they do wear out sooner than other grips...so what. They're inexpensive for what they do and work great. Think about it.. They're comfortable, sure footed and of a perfect circumfrance for my hands. They sizzle at five hot chilies.
