$12.00 | | Purchased At: | Pedal Power (I paid no shipping of tax =) | | Strengths: | EXTREMELY comfortable, and I used to ride with foam grips. The diamond pattern is great for grip, and you'll never have blisters. Just a soft comfy grippy grip. | | Weaknesses: | you could cry that it wears out, but it not gonna wear out in 3 months. Grips like mongoose will last forever, but these will last about 9 months or so... really I find no weakness | | Similar Products Used: | foam grips, mongoose eastern longnecks | | Bike Setup: | just a bmx bike | | Bottom Line: | THESE GRIPS ARE AMAZING! Sure you may slip a lil bit when you sweat, but all grippy grips that I've tried are like that. Lizard skins are probably they only way to avoid it, but these are worth it 100 percent. A smart person who is willing to replace grips about every 9 months or so should get these. If you have large hands, you can get OURYS, but I wouldn't recommend them over these for numerous reasons. You should probably get black, cuz it will last longest. There is nothing negative about this grip, there pretty simple to install, ( use extremely hot water, then hairspray, which really works best) and is really comfy. Even when you do sweat you barely slip at all, just like any other grip out there. GEEZ, that aint miracle grips

Like other peoples have written, don't use hairspray, soak in warm water then slide on. Easiest way to remove grips - use spray nozzle on end of air hose, slide it under the end of grip and spray air, the air lifts the rest of the grip off the bar and pull off, takes two seconds. $12.00 | | Purchased At: | Alfred E. Bike | | Strengths: | Easy to install, can be easily cut to custom length, seems to last a long time. Good size for those with small or large hands. | | Weaknesses: | Grip becomes rigid when cold, doesnt take to well to hard impacts. When the grip gets old, it will rub off black material on your hands/gloves. | | Similar Products Used: | Scott, Renthal | | Bike Setup: | DBR Vertex | | Bottom Line: | This grip is an easy to find, reliable standard. It will work great for all kinds of riders, and as long as you dont ride in cold weather, is a highly supple, vibration reducing material. This grip would be especially good for those who ride a mountain bike recreationally, not competitively, because it tends to get torn up when you start crashing. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

On the cheap end of good grips, but the best nonetheless. Longer than most-good for big hands. As soft as ourys, but without the sticky crap and outrageously huge size, and besides, Ourys weigh as much as Marlon Brando (that's about a ton). They seem to wear pretty quick, but even if they only last a year or so it will be worth it. Mine are't even the lock on kind, put on without adhesive, and they are stil in the exact spot that I installed them. Maybe it's because of the powdercoatad enduro bar, but they haven't moved at all.
The bottom line? When shimano released the current XTR, these grips were shown in all the ads (secret agent ads)-portraying the ultimate bike. That's because this is the best grip you can get, and they're cheap, too. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

This was their poor attempt to mimic ODI grips which have ALUMINUM locking clamps. These Serfas grips do not slide on easily like the ODIs - they have an thin internal rubber film which disintegrates if you try to remove the grips and then put them back on. The set screws are a joke - you cannot tighten them enough to keep the grips from twisting. I finally switched to ODI grips and I couldn't be happier. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

These grips help make the ride more comfy. Off road works well also. Secret is to wear gloves to keep from getting too much sweat on grips. The soft compound stays sticky in colder weather, but when rain, mud, and other assorted yuck is involved, they don't perform any better than anything else out there. Also the short life span is cut even shorter if you don't wear gloves- something about the acids in your skin... Anyway, for the money, these are good grips if they're installed properly (use hair spray, model glue, or my personal favorite, rubber cement) on a clean bar. For every person having trouble installing/removing/making stick grips: I tried everything from Voodoo rituals to hair spray & gel. Now I use clear spray paint to mount grips. from Los Angeles Date Reviewed: May 17, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Corral Canyon | | Duration Product Used: | Tested or demo'ed only | | Strengths: | Seems that Serfas makes several types of grips. The ones I tested were the "Fastener Grips". I liked the fact it was a fairly fat grip with a hard inner shell and had allen bolts at both ends to lock down the grips. Good features for the price. | | Weaknesses: | I tested two (2) pairs. The black rubber outer covering of the grip started to disintegrate when I installed the grip. So I returned it for another pair.
The 2nd pair did the same thing, this time I applied a very liberal amount of rubbing alcohol to the bar end and inside the grip. But the grip covering started to tear!! | | Similar Products Used: | Yeti, Profile, Bontrager. | | Bike Setup: | Klein Mantra Race. Schwinn S-Carbon | | Bottom Line: | I think Serfas needs to re-formulate the outer covering material to it'll withstand the typical hand pressure used in Mtn. Biking.
I have a pair of standard closed-end Serfas grips that I put on my Dad's wheelchair around 4 years ago and these grips are still in great condition so I know Serfas can make a more durable rubber compound!
Until then, I'd stay away from these grips!!

Ok here is the educated part. They suck because they busted on me when I crashed, they are almost impossible to mount on the bars so that they will stick, they always tend to twist around. I bougth the dual density ones and I mentioned that they were long. The inner part of the grip seems to be made out of a different material that may be better for gripping the bar. Serfas Barb-Wiregrips are absolutely awesome. I don't know about the ones pictured, they look a bit fat... The Barb-Wires are thin and have a VERY tight fit on the bar (gotta use an air-compressor to get them on and off). They don't squish when you grip them, they'll just give a little bit when you try to twist them. I compete in bike trials, so I'm very picky with my grips... These are the grips! I'm getting a pair for my XC bike... Don't know about wear... They'll probably be totally worn through to the bar within 2-3 months the amount I ride and the amount I'm grabbing on the grips (you grab hard and twist in bike trials, you see...). | Overall Rating: |

These grips came on my Bianchi 'Boss'. Never used a pair before so I thought I'd leave them on and see how they worked. I like the shape and diameter very much, not too big, not too small. Just the right amount of cushioning too. They are wearing very quickly thou' and they get too sticky whenever the temp is above 50. What I don't like most, and which would prevent me from buying them again, is that the knobs are so soft that they move when gripping hard. At first I thought that the whole grip was slipping on the bar but saw it was the knobs. I find this annoying! Too bad, otherwise, not a bad grip. | Overall Rating: |

I had left my bike inside my car so I can go on a afternoon ride without driving home first and when I came out the grips were horrified. The heat in the car cracked and delamitated the grips. I ended up going back down to the store and buying another pair of grips. I know you all are saying don't leave your bike in the car then. Well I would agree with you if all grips had the same effect, but that is just not true. These are the only grips that I have had this happen to me. I really like the racing model, they look really cool (twisting barbed wire) and the other kind are great too . If comfort is key get the diamond shaped ones, if you want a positive connection the the bars get the raqcing model. Both are comfortable but neither last very long. | Overall Rating: |

Oohh comfy! These are the softest ever and super comfy. Unfortunately thay dont last at all. If you can afford new grips every month theyre great. They soak up bumps and are great except for their limited lifetime.

The softness of the Serfas Grips is what led me to buy them, thinking that they'd provide more shock absorbtion than standard grips. They did...But after one week in the hot sun they started to disintegrate. They're pretty. They're soft. But I cannot recommend these grips. | Overall Rating: |

I like these things. They're comfy, grippy, look great, and don't bunch up. On the other hand, they get soft and gummy after a season, when they start shedding rubber in your hands and otherwise deteriorate. | Overall Rating: |

These grips held up fairly well considering they were combating the elements of a South Mountain summer in Phoenix. They get a bit too soft when it's 110 degrees, but they're pretty comfortable. | Overall Rating: |

The Serfas grip is quite comfortable, light, and has a low profile which I like, i.e., they're not a bulky grip. I work as a mechanic at a shop here in town and have convinced many people to give them a try. I am constantly changing grips trying to find the right one for me and this Serfas grip is in my top 3 along with the OnZa Ules grip, and the Oury grip. One note to make, when using these gloves, especially in hot, humid conditions be sure to wear gloves because the grips tend to get a little slippery for a bare hand when they get wet.
