Strengths:    Slim, doesn't say "ODI" in big white letters on the end.

Weaknesses:    Cheap plastic bar end plugs & lack of robustness in design, material, or both. After three weeks of use they looked like they had been used hard for six months. The plugs wouldn't stay in and the grips were tearing close to the bar ends. To be fair, in those three weeks I had a couple high-speed crashes at the bike park ... that said, my last set of ODI's held up to the same treatment for over a year before needing to be replaced.

Bottom Line:
The fact that these have a locking collar only on the inboard side makes them look slicker than the ODI grips, but they just don't hold up to lay-downs like the ODI. If you hardly every crash they may work fine for you.

Strengths:    no outer lock-on collar means no stress to your palms. there is tiny larger diameter rubber ring on the outside. they perform better then my odi intense lock-on grips, they are bit slimmer and have sure feel. great comfort when used with full-finger gloves. they are lighter (92g, weighted).

Weaknesses:    no as tough as odi intense grips, inner plastic is softer. basic ugly bar plugs. bit pricey (in europe).

Bottom Line:
if you prefer firm control of your grips, go get these. irregular grooves resemble nature patterns, which is nice.

Diamond Back Overdrive Sport or BAMF Half Nelson

I'm a roadie and don't know much about mountain bikes, but need to get one for my son. The last mountain bike I purchased was a Specialized FSR Pro in 2000 for $2k, so it's been a while. My son is 10, but tall for his age, he is all leg and grows like a weed. I sized him up on some size small adult ... Read More »

Half Nelson

Not the most exciting bit of video but kudos goes out to those crazy canadians that make trails like this happen. An amazing amount of work has gone into the trails in Squamish, all legit too (at least the ones we rode). Must be a kick in the pants when you know every turn on this trail, this was ... BAMF Half Nelson

Well it is now Thursday. I have been looking pretty heavy for a Hardtail MTB all week long on the internet. Tomorrow I will be making a trip to the LBS for a sizing and a look around. I did come across this bike and was wondering some opinions. [url]http://www.giantnerd.com/bamf-half-nelson-moun ... Read More »
