Bottom Line:
I bought these as all reviews and forum posts I could find recommended these grips for riders with big hands. They measure appox 120mm wide (or is that length?), but the part designed for your hand to hold onto is only 100mm wide. Maybe I'm some sort of freak, but my hands are wider than 100mm.
So I have gone back to my old ragged Race Face grips that are about 135mm wide and a little thicker than the Ourys too.

Weaknesses:
gets dirty very easy, too soft rubber wears a hole too quickly
Similar Products Used:
Stock Bontrager and Redline grips, Oury Lock On's and ODI Rogue Lock on
The Oury MTB grips were used on a '08 Redline Monocog 29er.
These Oury slip on grips are probably the best slip on grips in the market. Its inexpensive, light and comes in different colors to match your bike, and now including glow in the dark. The soft rubber absorb some vibration and is very grippy even when wet or with bare hands.
Because of the tacky rubber material, it gets dirty very easily. Handlebar ends will also cookie cut a hole through the soft and thin rubber of the grips easily too.
Installation was easy, one side just needed glass cleaner and the other side hairspray. The side that installed with glass cleaner did twist a tad but that was probably due to rider's death grip (Loaned the bike). The side that installed with hairspray did not twist or throttle but took a day under the sun to dry.
Before installing on the bike, drop a dime inside the grip. That will prevent the handlebars from eating through the grip ends.
These are the next best thing to lock on Oury grips!

These are really comfortable grips without being too squishy. I install them with a blast of contact cleaner and they slip on then get tacky. I add a little stainless safety wire to each end since I tend to tear off the ends often, even with bar-end inserts. They're about the same diameter as a lot of street motorcycle grips so they feel natural to me. Don't be afraid to try different grips til you find what you like. Its one of the cheapest things to change on your bike and can make a real difference in how you feel when you ride.

Strengths:
Soft, big, cushy grips for riders with larger sized hands.
Weaknesses:

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:
This will be a review of the Oury lock-on grips. I've been a big fan of Oury grips and have been using them for a long time... I've always loved the softness and large diameter of the grips.
I was a little disappointed to find that the lock-on version of the Ourys do not have the same softness nor feel of the regular Ourys. I believe the underlying hard plastic is to blame for the decreased cush. That being said, they still feel a lot better than my Ruffian lock-on grips, which seemed a little too small for my hands.
As I've said before, I've used Ourys for a long time. And while I loved them, I found two faults with Oury grips, one problem which was addressed by the lock-ons. The first was their tendency to slip and move around on my handlebars, even more so than other traditional grips that I've tried. The lock-ons by their design addresses this problem. The other is poor grip when wet. The large, smooth blocks offer little friction when wet. The Ruffians were much better in this regard. So for wet weather rides, I usually swap out the Ourys for the Ruffians. But since I ride in So Cal, riding in the wet usually isn't a big concern.
Bottom Line, Ourys are great. I had considered wiring my grips to my bars, but when the lock-on versions came out I ended up buying those instead. The grips immobility on my bars more than makes up for the slight decrease in softness. If you've got big hands, the Ourys are a great grip, either way and well worth the money.

I ride the Lock-on version. I like them a lot. They're much thicker than the other grips that I had. Grips get tacky after they're broken in and feel very secure. Haven't had any problems with tearing or slipping AT ALL.
Combine these with a good pair of gloves and your hands won't hurt even after long bumpy rides.

Homemade Ritchey Fram, RoxShox Tora, Easton EC70, XT Drivetrain, Mavic 517 Rims, Panaracer Fire XC Pro
Bottom Line:
Nice grips, bottom line. Look simple and clean. The raised edge on the end is a nice touch. Id be hesitant to use rubber cement to install as im not sure what that would do to the finish on the carbon bar i have. I used a golfing trick, double sided tape and some grip solvent and slid the grips on like i would a grip on my graphite shafted driver. Atleast i know it wont damage the bar. One word of warning, these grips are a bit thicker than any others ive seen or tried. If you have small hands these might not be the best option.

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:
Installation tips: I have a carbon bar. I ended up using rubber cement - which you can get anywhere school supplies are sold. (Hairspray didn't work.) Rubber cement is cheap ($2-3) and easier to find than the 3M stuff Oury recommends.
It seems to be holding up well. I also like the idea of rubber cement because I know I can get it off the bar without too much work when the time comes.
1 - Insert nickel into grip and push to end. (Great tip from someone else - keeps the rubber from pushing into the bar end.) 2 - Put a healthy slathering inside the grip and then a lighter coat on the bar. When you put the coat on the bar, do this fast because it starts to set up fast. 3 - Slide the grip onto the bar and position. If the grip gets stuck on the way on, pull off quickly, clean up the surfaces and try again. 4 - Use a rag to wipe up any excess. The rubber cement rubs off easily. 5 - Repeat for other grip. 6 - Wait for ? (I waited overnight but rubber cement dries fast so, perhaps an hour or two.)
I suppose if you torque real hard on the grips, this stuff may come loose. I haven't had the problem. The rubber cement grips well to the rubber grip and to the carbon bar.

My 8" long hand can't handle the stock Bontrager grips off my Trek 4900 - great grips, but not thick enough as it cramps my fingers by end of day. These Ourys rock! highly comfortable, soft, and sticky! Note that the lockons are good at what they do but that means the grips wear out faster b/c it's gripping so well - after 3 rides the edges of my grips are showing signs of wear, we'll see how long they last. just like automotive racing tires - the best and grippest won't be the ones that last the longest. overall great product!

A true upgrade over the stock Trek grips. Amazing that such a minor change like this increases ride enjoyability. I also recommend the 3m weatherstrip glue (yellow snot glue). I only wrote this review because I felt I needed to help all of the fools who keep complaining about the Oury's being a pain to put on. Don't use hairspray and don't use alcohol--isopropyl or methyl. The grips are really very simple to put on if you follow the manufacturer's suggestion of the back of the packaging. Use 3M weather stripping adhesive!!!!!! liberally on the inside of the grip. Twist the grip into place to be sure you get full coverage of the glue. Now, one last thing I learned from riding dirt bikes... Grips of this type do tend to twist. Take some stainless safety wire and twist it into place at the four natural indentations on the grip. You're done...should've been the easiest mod. you've ever attempted! Don't be a bonehead, you must use the weather stripping adhesive cement!!!

I hope to buy grips that will be as comfortable but don't wear as fast.
This grip is for people with bigger hands and can afford to replace them every 3 to 9 months.

These grips have a very good "feel" to them. However, it's been quite an adjustment for me, coming off of years on more narrow diameter grips: I get hand-pump I've never had!
No issues with the rubber getting gooey on me.
A key failure in the Oury design is the lack of vent holes. If you attach them with hairspray, they'll stick like glue, BUT, if you don't punch a visible hole in the end of each grip, they'll trap air between the grip and the bar and they will break free and slip on you.
They are soft rubber, so I'd reccomend installing them OVER end caps: mine cookie-cuttered a hole on the first crash.

I love these things. They are very squishy, yet firm. Sounds odd I know but there is no better way to describe them. I had a mother of a time getting them to stick on my bars. Some people complain about wierd black stuff on your hands but I ahve not had this problem. Also I put them on over my bar end caps and have had no problems with them tearing. If you are hardcore you may want the ODI lock on version since it took me 2 weeks to get these to stick. Overall great product, very comfortable.

Sticky... The shop I bought them from said they would give me credit towards different grips if I didn't like them. So I held their feet to the fire. I poured about 10 gallons of water on these things when I got them on to see if what everyone here said about them slipping was true. Neither one of them moved a millimeter. Will they hold up? I'm confident they will.
Weaknesses:
Hard to put on if you have never put on grips and don't know what they are doing...like me. :) Very sticky on the inside out of the package which made it hard to slide them on. I probably should have used some hair spray to help slide them on but seriously, hair spray??? Please! Since I'm a fanatic about my job and my bike, no woman will ever date me so I can mooch that stuff off anyone. And I certainly ain't ponying up my hard earned dollar for the hair spray companies and their army of skeleton-I-don't-eat-meat-supermodels.
They may not work for you if you have small hands. They are kind of large and squishy.

I would say that the grips are comfortable, but may generate a bad feel for those w/out L to XL size hands, especially when you are changing from a thinner size grip that you have become accustomed to and furthermore, they are very slippery (borderline sketchy) when they become wet. I'm talking wetness caused by rain, sweat or hummidity, anything that is wet will cause these grips to become slippery enought to make you think about it and if the grips are making me think, that is too slippery for me. Five for value (price is competitive). Three for ratings. (make a grip a little thinner and less slippery and they are a five)

These are by far the best looking - the most functional grip anyone could ever have. You don't have to cut your grips off your bars if you ever want to detach them - you just unscrew the lock jaw clamps and slide them off like butter

These grips I have been riding with for about 8 years now. Had a set also on an old dirt bike moons ago (different pattern, etc... but still felt good). The grips are a bit large for some people's tastes, or those with small hands, but for most average sized persons it is just a matter of taste. They last nearly forever, unless you leave your bike outside or crash hard, in which case like all grips they may give up. Very reasonable pricing and have a great dampening effect for those high-frequency vibes that suspension doesn't take out. Weight weenies need not apply, as these are around 100 grams per pair, but all you all-day and more "fun" oriented trail riders should at least check them out. New Lock-on versions out now too for the huckers and severe-weather ride crowd! While the new Specialized Durango grip seems to look good, these are the baseline for all the grips I try - I keep coming back to them - wonder why I waste money trying others!
