How to make an ergo exercise bike

My trainer is keen to make an ergo bike like this below. I offered to help. Im an ok mechanic but not a mad scientist. Anyone have any suggestions. Cane Creek Ergo bar ends won't "lock"

Hi, I have some cane creek grips that mate to cane creek Ergo bar ends. I recently noticed one of the bar ends won't lock on to the grips (little tabs don't stay in the slots in the bar ends if that makes sense). Even when I tighten down the bolt they still slip out.
