Dos Niner with SRAM X.0 twist shifters | | Bottom Line: | Grips and saddles are so unique in what might feel good to one person, feels terrible to another. These feel great for my hand size. I was a bit skeptical after trying many other foam grips that left my hands hurting and me disappointed, but these are not in that light foam category. They have a nice shape to them and do not collapse if you squeeze on them. They are the perfect size so when you trim them to use with a gripshift they match up with no height change between the rubber twist grip and the Bontrager Race X Lite grip.
They can tear on trees or crashes, but replacement costs are 8 or 9 bucks a pair which is not bad. I use hair spray to keep them from rotating on my bars.

Just as firm as I want them, provides great grip and full control of the bike in any weather, at any temperature, on any trail. Will never put anything else on any of my bikes.
Actual weight is less than claimed (18 grams/pair without the plugs that probably weighs 2 grams each).
Yes, they need to be glued or fixed to the handlebars, but that's really no big deal and not different from most other non-locking grips out there (at least foam grips). Hairspray works great as adhesive. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

But for racing, these are just too slippery. They are also the shortest grips I have ever used. Cyclingnews.com came to the same conclusion recently when reviewing the latest gary Fisher.

Since I use Sram twist shifters, I cut them down to about 60% of their stock length and as a pair, they weigh 10g. My Salsa grips were 45g at the same length.
I go through 2 sets of rubber grips a year due to wear, so I'm hoping these will last longer than that.
I installed w/ Elmer's spray glue and they grip the bar like no rubber grip ever has! I am very impressed with how well they hold in place, so hopefully removal at a later date won't be nearly impossible.
I usually ride with gloves, but I don't seem to need them with these grips, as a long ride yesterday proved. I forgot my gloves and decided not to worry about it, and after a 2-hour ride, my hands were as fresh as when I left home. Rubber grips have always made my hands either hurt or go numb throughout the ride. I'm happy to find it was always the grips and not me.

After two years of riding with them, the only noticeable wear is that they have become a little smoother from my palms, but even this is minimal because they're tough foam, not cheap and squishy. I was looking to replace them with rubber grips which might wear even less, but after looking around I think I would prefer another pair of these because they offer great comfort both with and without gloves, something that not all rubber grips can do. Plus, they cost less than half of most lock-ons. Even if they wear faster than rubber, I can replace them 2-3 times and still save money.
