There are several hand positions you can use on them. I selected these because of the recessed mounting bolt. Kona Lava Dome, Marzocchi z5. | | Bottom Line: | These bar end thingies really help when climbing hills they give more power to loft over obstacles and move your position forward. The fat grips are comfy to grab onto for those with average to large hands. Added bonus: these things have saved my knuckles from being crushed in collisions with trees and I haven't had any problems with slippage yet, they've stayed right where I set them the first day. I'd recommend these bar ends to everyone (although I doubt that there's a huge difference between different brands). 5 chilis boy! | | Overall Rating: |

1998 Trek 7000 ZX | | Bottom Line: | i think that these are some pretty darn good all around bar ends. i didn't really directly compare them to other ones available or in the price range because they came with my bike, except maybe some GT's i saw in the LBS a while back for $10. these seem much sturdier and comfortable due to the rounded shape and diameter.only problem i've had with these suckers is no matter how hard i crank on the bolt to install or adjust these things, i can never get them to stay locked on (they will always slip if i push hard enough on them in the forward direction). this and the fact that these are the fugliest things on the planet are their only drawback. but i like 'em.the finish is sort of a matte / light sandpaper feel to the grip which the verdict is still out on for me. i think it is better than a smooth aluminum or painted surface but only time will tell if this is the most effective on the trail. i like to climb a lot so i expect to get a lot more use out of em very soon; only cruised around w/ em on so far. 5 flamin' chile-o-ramas for function and value, minus 1 for the form and install prob. | | Overall Rating: |

'99 Trek 8000 | | Bottom Line: | I have to agree with Rick down there, it's damn good that Icon oversized their bar ends to 28mm diamiter, you can grip it better. The smaller ones just don't cut it - they look like kids sent in the design for them. at least now an adult CAN grip them comfortably, without finger overlap. | | Overall Rating: |

On my Trek 7000 | | Bottom Line: | Just created this section and noticed it's Fatty not Fattie but anyway who the hell cares... I heard some reviews that it takes up too much handdle bar space, kiss my *ss! It's sweet! It doesn't take up much room, and it's large to actually feel comfortable (something other company's should try) with a diameter of 28.6mm to fit a man's hand, not an 8 year old's. Nice bend and geometry at the weight of 139g/p for around $30 and owned by Trek, it's worth every dolar. | | Overall Rating: |
