$30.00 | | Purchased At: | Scheels | | Strengths: | It is the best bar end I have used. It is light, big, and is great for up-hills and when you pump for extra speed. Also it matches my Bontrager Crowbar Handlebar very well. | | Weaknesses: | Sorda high priced, compared to the 12 dollar cheepos. | | Similar Products Used: | I have used many of my friends and have demoed some. | | Bike Setup: | Trek 4500, Stock dont have the cash to upgrade it yet. | | Bottom Line: | A great investment. A great bar end. I love it. You should get the product. You might not want to get it if you use it to sit and just want to have your back straighter. You may want ones that are longer and have a bigger curve. I hope this helps you. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$10.00 | | Purchased At: | Bargain Bin at LBS | | Strengths: | Big! Light! Recessed mounting bolt for clean grip anywhere. | | Weaknesses: | Nobody has made the ultimate bar end yet. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized, Cane Creek Ergo. | | Bike Setup: | 97 Fisher Tassajara rigid, flat bars. | | Bottom Line: | They are big and light with a nice curve. There are several hand positions you can use on them. I selected these because of the recessed mounting bolt. Why should there be a bolt sticking out into your palm if you want to wrap your hand around the end of the bar and bar end. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

They can take a beating too. | | Weaknesses: | None for me. I do wish they would make straight ones in the same diameter tube. | | Similar Products Used: | Fisher fins, | | Bike Setup: | Stock 99 Fisher Supercaliber | | Bottom Line: | These are great bar ends, but I wish you could find them easier than just being able to order them from the Trek dealers. But all in all I would have to say that I like them a lot, since barends are of complete personal preference. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Toronto, Ontario Date Reviewed: September 15, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | Fast ones with ample air time | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Comfortable, tough, functional. | | Weaknesses: | None so far | | Similar Products Used: | None | | Bike Setup: | Kona Lava Dome, Marzocchi z5. | | Bottom Line: | These bar end thingies really help when climbing hills they give more power to loft over obstacles and move your position forward. The fat grips are comfy to grab onto for those with average to large hands. Added bonus: these things have saved my knuckles from being crushed in collisions with trees and I haven't had any problems with slippage yet, they've stayed right where I set them the first day. I'd recommend these bar ends to everyone (although I doubt that there's a huge difference between different brands). 5 chilis boy! | Overall Rating: |

from Long Beach, CA Date Reviewed: September 10, 1999 | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | - nice size & feel - comfortable - seem pretty light - decent value | | Weaknesses: | - ugly! (IMHO) - can't ever crank the allen bolt enough so they are guaranteed not to slip - still undecided on the finish | | Similar Products Used: | none specifically | | Bike Setup: | 1998 Trek 7000 ZX | | Bottom Line: | i think that these are some pretty darn good all around bar ends. i didn't really directly compare them to other ones available or in the price range because they came with my bike, except maybe some GT's i saw in the LBS a while back for $10. these seem much sturdier and comfortable due to the rounded shape and diameter.only problem i've had with these suckers is no matter how hard i crank on the bolt to install or adjust these things, i can never get them to stay locked on (they will always slip if i push hard enough on them in the forward direction). this and the fact that these are the fugliest things on the planet are their only drawback. but i like 'em.the finish is sort of a matte / light sandpaper feel to the grip which the verdict is still out on for me. i think it is better than a smooth aluminum or painted surface but only time will tell if this is the most effective on the trail. i like to climb a lot so i expect to get a lot more use out of em very soon; only cruised around w/ em on so far. 5 flamin' chile-o-ramas for function and value, minus 1 for the form and install prob. | Overall Rating: |

The smaller ones just don't cut it - they look like kids sent in the design for them. at least now an adult CAN grip them comfortably, without finger overlap. | Overall Rating: |

I heard some reviews that it takes up too much handdle bar space, kiss my *ss! It's sweet! It doesn't take up much room, and it's large to actually feel comfortable (something other company's should try) with a diameter of 28.6mm to fit a man's hand, not an 8 year old's. Nice bend and geometry at the weight of 139g/p for around $30 and owned by Trek, it's worth every dolar. | Overall Rating: |
