Strengths:    One piece, no rivets to loosen or vibrate, I originally had them on 2nd wheelset for street riding, and descend 1500 feet with no fading or squeal.

Weaknesses:    Heavyish

Bottom Line:
This is a tough review to write because it is difficult to scientifically test rotor performance by the seat of your pants. I have XTR rotors on new 2012 Turner that seem to work fine. I also have nice AVID HSX heat shedding rotors ($70 each) that vibrate through my frame on 2nd bike. They are mounted to CHRIS KING hubs. 2nd wheelset has Alligator Wavy rotors and are silent, work great, and seem to be as good as XTR on other bike. I should note that both bikes have the same Shimano XT 985 brakes. I like the Wavy rotors so well, that as of 3/21/2014, I just ordered 3 more. Both wheelsets get new Alligator rotors, the XTR will stay on other bike, but I cannot tell the difference. I have decided that 2 piece rotors are not for me. I do wonder who makes the best 1 piece rotor, and how do we find out what grade of steel is used by different manufactures?

XT front disc brake + 180mm alligator wavy rotor ->Weird noise

It's a mystery to me. I built up a new bike over the weekend and took it out for a ride last night. Everything seemed fine and the brakes were broken-in by today. This afternoon, I went for a ride again. On a long downhill trail, I noticed that everytime I put on the front brake (whether just feathe ... Read More »

Using Marta wavy rotor with Shimano m-975 calipers

Hi all! I just installed my new XTR m-975 front brakeset on my bike. However, the front rotor is not XTR, but the old one that I used with my Magura Marta set (Marta Wavy). XTR caliper pads are brand new, but brake performance sucks, it has never fully stop the wheel. I have no idea if it is d ... Read More »

Avid BB7 Rotor Changing from CS to Wavy

Hey all- I have a SS setup with Horizontal Drops to get the rear wheel on and off I have to loosen the caliper (Which is not really a big deal- just an extra step). I had a thought this afternoon- if I switch my rear rotor from a Clean Sweep Rotor to a "Wavy" rotor I could probably get the rear whe ... Read More »

140mm wavy rotor?

Does anyone know if there are 140mm wavy rotors available? I swapped the calipers on my Martas to run 180 front and 140 rear. I'm using a round Formula rotor on the back, but it would be nice to have a wavy rotor to match the front.Read More »
