Date Reviewed: May 28, 2002
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:Paradise Creek Bikes
Strengths:Hard to adjust
Weaknesses:Concealed Spring
Similar Products Used:Avid, Protech, and most of the Shimanos
Bike Setup:'97 Fisher Mamba (heavily modified)
Bottom Line:I got these to replace my old cantilever breaks, and I had a hard time adjusting them to fid my frame. It seemed like the slot was not long enough to get them where I needed them. Once I got them working, they have not given me much trouble.

One trivial complaint: almost every other brand of breaks have the spring on the outside, so to center them quickly you can just bend the spring a little bit. These use a coil spring, so you can only center them by turning the set screw.

Date Reviewed: May 10, 1999
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
PRICE, PrIcE, pRiCe, PricE, priceApart from that, they are quite strong- the alloy used in their production seems to be quite tough.
Weaknesses:
relatively large mass
Similar Products Used:
all kinds of tektro v-brakes, shimano stx-rc
Bike Setup:
atala bird, RS iett xc
Bottom Line:Quite a nice brake for a very low price. I was sure it won't work as it should, but, fortunately, i was not right. In comparison with my old Altus cantilevers they are wonderful. But, as all v-brakes, they need proper regulation.
Overall Rating:3
