Strengths:    awesome stopping power great for all conditions work good out of the box.

Weaknesses:    mine didn't come with noodle threaders.

Bottom Line:
bassically id rather go for the lx set up then an xt or xtr as you get almost the same brakes but a little lighter and 70 bucks more expensive.

madass price!

Weaknesses:    levers are OOOGLEEE

Bottom Line:
reely good value.i got these for 72 bucks complete with levers.great stopping power. these are the same as the xt, maybe with a few more grams.they are great if you dont want the price and weight of discs, but want decent brakes. however, DO NOT ride these in wet or muddy conditions without changing the pads: they squeal like hell.

Strengths:    Looks great on my bike. Wild stopping power when paired with Tektro boosters

Weaknesses:    The pad can twist while you're tightening it

Bottom Line:
I only got them a few days ago at the bike show, but they are working way better than my STX-RC. They look better, work better and don't have any signifigant weaknesses.

Strengths:
Bonehead simplicity
Lightyears over old sidepulls
Affordability

Weaknesses:
pad replacement

Bottom Line:
For a very low price these braked are a remarkable value. The V-brake stopping power sets a new standard which is only now being surpased by a fledgling disc brake market. These LX's are simple to set up and maintain. One might go to XT or XTR but the weight savings is less than 10% and the cost is more than 50 % higher for XT and 100 % for XTR. On some bikes this just doesn't make any sense.
