they work OK in the dry - no better than a set of cheap pads. And they don't squeal on mavic rims which is a plus.
In the wet they are rubbish - braking is truly appalling - all rim brakes are bad in the wet but these seem particularly bad. Not only that but the pads will wear down before your very eyes, taking the rims with them. After every wet ride I had to sand the pads down because of the metal they had collected - they also put 0.3mm of wear onto my mavic 317 rims in just 6 months.
I swapped to koolstops - they work and are even half decent in the wet - and they don't wear the rims. no metal fragments no matter how much mud you've cycled through. period. Oh and there is a whole quid difference in the price.
1 chilli for price, but 2 chilli's coz they do work in the dry...

I try and get in about 5 or 6 hours a week (im in school)...These pads are great for anywhere that's not really really muddy. They have been great for all kinds of xc, and road stuff. Only problem i've had is one time i went riding when i probably shouldn't have-the trail was nothing but soup and when i was cleaning my bike up afterwards, the machined grooves on the rim were significantly smaller. eat rims | | Similar Products Used: | Kool stop | | Bottom Line: | I had these when I bought my singledigit 7 brakes. My first thought was that they brake really well. But after one month, now I see some major problems. 1st, I have to replace them after aproximately 250km (about 160 miles)
2nd: they eat my rims. When I replaced the pads on my front brakes, I noticed lumps of alluminium in the pad. On the rear, I could see that my new rim (mavic Xride that has only 140km) was maybe 2mm thinner on the braking surface.
If you want great performance at any cost, then you can buy these. But I personnally prefer a little less performance and more rim and pads (mostly rim) longevity. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

Due to an unfortunate accident, my road bike is out of commission for some time, so I'm riding/racing my Redline on the road until it gets some off-road time in the fall. These pads do not work AT ALL when it's wet out. The Campy Chorus' are 100 times better, as where the Tri-Align II's with older Kool stops. As soon as I can I will replace these hunk-of-junk pads.
