I recently bought a pair of these levers, and they kick behind! They provide supurb all around stopping abality, and are easy to install. Plus they come in great colors, like my metallic purple. Defiently 2thumbs up! The only downside they may have is their a bit pricey. But not too high. These were once, THE levers to get. For when they were designed there was nothing that could touch them in price and wieght. It's pretty obvious that there are better levers now, but 7 or 8 years ago, these were the shit. | Overall Rating: |

Francis's comments below are dead-on: sloppy and light, and the plastic adjust locknut is is useless. However, the slop doesn't really bother me on the trail (but _why_ is it there? I worry about these things when I'm flying downhill), and the locknut is easy to replace, so neither of these are fatal flaws.The lightweight aftermarket look is cool, and so is their performance. They do work well, and haven't broken in 14 months of brutal use (ask the guys at the LBS about some other parts on my bike...). They're very comfortable and they fit well on the bars with my gripshifts -- they're long enough, unlike the alien-finger compatable design of the new LX V's for example. But the slop and plastic locknut bring them down a chili, maybe a chili and a half. I'll be charitable and round up to 4. | Overall Rating: |

The SS-7 Levers are a step up from Shimano LX and DX levers and are a good value. They are quite powerful and are fairly light. There's a lot of lever slop though coming from the pivot. Another problem I had was the lock nut on the cable adjustment screw never did it's job.
