Strengths:    Light. All top notch- X0/XTR/Roval/Thomson/Magura. It all works well together, and the 'Brain' shock and fork do exactly what Spec says they do. You can feel the suspension react to the trail, but not to pedal bob. It stiffens up on hard pack and uphill, till you hit a rut or rock, then it's instantly FS. Quick but not twitchy; sticks the line you choose and responds to changes instantly. I am clearing stuff I walked before.

Weaknesses:    Came with a 2.0 Captian tire up front. Ok for XC, but not right for trailriding. Replaced with a 2.3 SW Eskar. Price, but Specialized had 7 small '08s left that the dealer ordered for me at a closeout price. So I got it for almost a grand less than the model down I had wanted. Cockpit is a little cramped due to combo of short TT, short stem and no setback seatpost. May need to go to a setback.

Bottom Line:
Great bike. Hard to justify cost; even 3500 is a lot of dough. It is one of the better bikes out there that is made for women, a no holds barred build that is available in a small size that works for women like me with little standover and short arms. They just needed to open the cockpit with a setback seatpost and I see that in 09 they did that. With what I saved on the 08, I can afford to buy a new seatpost. Take away 1 star for the 2.0 tire, no setback post and the otherwise high $$ that I am glad I did not have to pay.
