Strengths: Great all around bike out of the box, for xc ridingWeaknesses: wheels.Bottom Line: The bike stock is great for someone just starting out.OEM wheelset I found very flexy therefore bought a burlier wheelset. The OEM crankset was fine, but I preferburlier being I am a big guy. The fork surprisingly worked well,as per reviews i have read on it. THis is my second Kona FS bike, and out of all FS bikes I have owned,Kona just tracks the trail much better. For 999 from LBS was a good deal, even though I have put 1000 in upgrades, for 2k i have a really good handling solid bike. The rear shock surprisingly works extremely well for a entry level rear shock. I cant give it 5 chilis for overall rating because of the wheelset

Strengths: I have owned this bike for a little over a week and have already ridden it a good 50 miles commuting and trail riding. The weight distribution is absolutely perfect and although the front shocks are not the best suited for a bike of this price range, everything from konas rear suspension setup, disc brakes and a perfectly matched set of maxxis tires makes this a great buy if you can find it for $1200 and under. It also has a slightly longer wheelbase that makes it a comfortable and confident ride at higher speeds. An all around great buy if you can find one lower than the original $1500 msrp.Weaknesses: Front rox shox darts are adequate but not necessarily the best choice for a bike of this price rangeBottom Line: Although i am not entirely pleased with the front suspension choices by kona, I still gave it a five because everything else makes riding this bike a dream. I definately recommend this bike for the daily commuter and the hardcore rider and cannot wait to ride Jackson, Wyoming this coming summer.
