Strengths: This review is on the 2006 Kestrel Edge. When it worked it was smooth as butter. FSR has never been so sweet, not even on the Specialized frames. There was a synergy between frame and suspesion. Relatively light. This bike made me a better rider. I could fly down downhill. And climb like a goat. Was a great bike.Weaknesses: Then one day, went for a ride when a small twig, ran through my chain right into the derailleur. Bent the derail hanger into a U. No problem...right. Big problem...Huge. Kestrel the company that represented a "Life Time" warranty, won't even replace the derailleur hanger, Says they "Can't", "We don't manufacture that model and can't make the 30 second phone call for a .50 cents part for a customer who spent $3,000.00 on their product (with a lifetime warranty) hmmm, Interesting customer service philosophy. Well my brothers, lets see how much this review cost KESTREL aka Fugi Bike aka Advance Sports. Remember this review when considering a KESTREL product.Bottom Line: The bottom line is somebody took the time to engineer and design a pretty nice bike, that had they not given up and thrown in the towel on sale, marketing and CUSTOMER SERVICE, it may have been a winning addition to their product line. I also hear from some Kestrel road bike owners, are having similar issues with the road bike product line.

Bottom Line: Love the bike to bits but I cannot source a rear mech hanger to replace broken one. Ketsrel say it will be spring before they can source one - judge for yourself if this is the kind of after sales support you want. And this is to a customer who has 3 of their bikes.........

Strengths: Unfortunately the frame broke after 2 years and 2000 Km on the aft triangle, just over the disc brake bracket.Weaknesses: It seems that the connection between the carbon arm and aluminum plate brakes with little effort. I have a friend who had the same problem. This bike comes with life warranty, but Kestrel does not want to help and who wants to buy a legal battle.Bottom Line: The frame looks good and I would not have any problem if Kestrel had try to find a solution, but I got this frame for the warranty and pass the opportunity to buy a Ibis Mojo because of its 3 years warranty.
2 years, 2000 km and nothing like big jumps and staff. This is not enough for a carbon frame, the price and Kestrel name!!!

Strengths: Looks cool, FSR suspension, stiff and strong, still quite rare.Weaknesses: "3.5 to 4.5 adjustable travel" is not so easy to adjust. The link has to be dismantled fully to put the shock in the other slot.Bottom Line: The FSR suspension is still the best I believe, thats why a lot of Hi-end brands use them. You get that on a whole carbon bike, then thats really cool. The link to switch the travel for the rear is not as easy to change as to say, an Enduro. Granted the Enduro has an itch switch, but the link is so much easier to remove or even just to have the shock serviced, you need to dismantle the three piece link or arm or whatever you call it.

Strengths: Carbon Fiber, Trick, Smooth, Fast, Nothing else like itWeaknesses: Haven't found any yetBottom Line: This bike does everything I ask of it and begs for more. The carbon ride is soooo smooth and fast. The fox float front and rear are the best I've ridden. I wanted something not so mainstream. Here is Santa Cruz it seems that 80% of the bikes on the trail are Santa Cruzes. Although Santa Cruz makes a great bike I feel my Kestrel is a step above and I like having something a little different. I definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking for a high-end cross-country machine. You will not be disappointed.
