Strengths: Affordable
Brakes
Quality forks
Comfortable seatWeaknesses: Frame seems to be failing (creaking)
Crankset
Bottom Line: This bike is a great affordable introduction to full suspension mountain bikes. I purchased it brand new on clearance at a steal of $200 + $50 shipping. I couldn't find a similarly equipped hardtail at that price. As a beginner mountain biker, it's wonderful, but my next bike will probably be a hardtail in the $500-$700 price range, as an intermediate biker.
I rode it pretty hard and jumped it quite a bit when I first got it...definitely not what it was designed for, and I've refrained since.
The stock components are decent for awhile, but after a few months the square drive crank began loosening every ride and was reamed out after 6 months of pretty hard riding. I replaced it with a Shimano Octalink crankset. I tried a 68 x 113mm english Bottom Bracket, but that was too short and the crank arm hugged up against it. I then tried the next size up: 68 x 118mm BB, and while that worked, the outer chainwheel was too far out for the derailer to reach, and I have been only using the first two gears ever since...not good.
I'm a short guy at 5'4", and my bike is a bit big at 17", but using a shorter stem makes it fit decently with the seat post down.
One thing I really love about this bike are the brakes. My friends have cable disc brakes, and none of them can match the stopping power and brake feel that the Maverick Trail has. I'm still on the original pads, too, 4 years later.
My biggest complaint is the frame. It makes a constant creaking sound while in motion, and when you try to wiggle/bend the frame, it sounds like creaking metal. It hasn't exploded on me yet, so I've just been ignoring it thus far.
The rims are pretty standard. With my riding style, I find myself re-truing the rear every season or more.
The derailleurs leave a bit to be desired, as they've never really shifted perfectly. I switched out the crappy gripshift friction shifters for some Alivio trigger shifters.I could probably benefit from a professional tune, though...
I replaced the pedals with some clip-ons.
A great bike for a beginner.

Strengths: Great bike for the $$$ .... Although I had a frame failure ( blaming it on the way the bike hit in zero deg. weather )( replaced by factory ) No Probs. in 4 years of riding it hard.Weaknesses: All components . This IS an entry level bike ...... I bought this with the intentions of replacing the components as they wore out .... that didn't take long ,as I do put some hard miles on itBottom Line: The only thing original on this bike is the frame ..... Which is why I bought it in the first place .... With the intentions of up grading from the start .. Turned out to be a Great bike .... Hard to buy a Frame for $250.Saved a lot of $$$$ building it myself & buying components on sale. I ride with a lot of High $$ bikes , and they can't believe what I have for so little $$ . Strengths: This bike is priced low for what you get. This is a great bike for beginners and will not give you any problems when used for it's intended purpose.Weaknesses: The shifters, and crank are rubbish. I'd recommend upgrading them. If you use this on technical downhill trails (this isnt a downhill bike) like the yellow trail in philadelphia you will notice that the suspension isnt that great. Not to bad mouth this bike though I would recommend this bike to any beginner.Bottom Line: This is a bike worth owning if youre looking to get into MTB riding, have fun and not spend 2000+ dollars on a bike.

Strengths: Great price! Perfect for a beginner...Weaknesses: Heavy! Also the front and rear shock could be better.
Bottom Line: This is a great bike for the money!I bomb a mile long downhill on my fav trail(its not moab or anything) and clock 40+ mph... Never had any weld issues. I keep the bike maintained and clean as you should... I was very suprised with the brakes! They have plenty of bite and I prefer mechanical over hydraulic anyway. Buy this bike if you are looking to get started on the cheap! Keep it maintained and clean it and it should outlive you!

Strengths: Price!!! Looks Hot does the job. Nothing broken yet.Weaknesses: Cranks suck. Bottomed out forks had to change. I only weigh 150. Front rotor needed to be and 8 in.Bottom Line: Change the suspension, rotors and the cranks and you have a wonderful bike. Great to get started on and will grow with you. I can see the frame craking if the appropriate set up is not used. Looks great and once the rear shock is sorted it tracks very nicely. Hit some pretty rough downhill sections and no problems at all. Wheels seem like they will last a long time. If you are a large rider steer clear. Im 150 at 6 ft and it rides well over 200 will not enjoy this.

Strengths: -Very sturdy and some what light frame
-Mine came with a RockShox Dart 1 Fork
-Rims are super tough
-Acera deraillers are great
Weaknesses: pedals suck! crankset sucks! and thats bout allBottom Line: I have been rough on this bike, it has taken dozens of four foot drops, doubles, tabletops, cements slabs and other unstable riding conditons. I must have gone over the handlebars over 15 times and hit at least 20 trees (im not a bad rider just a bit extreme)ide say its fairly bomb proof (as far a XC Bikes go). Just dont test it on any 12 foot drops, you might regret it...

Strengths: Great value for entry level mountain bike. Great for country roads. Full suspension gives soft ride on gravel roads. A leap above "department store" bikes. This is a real bike, even though entry level.Dependable for country roads.Weaknesses: Heavy as a tank. Not designed for extreme trails or jumps. You won't see this bike doing tricks on X-games. Probably would not sustain itself with hardcore trail rider.Bottom Line: If you're looking for performance that'll impress your buds, this bike is not for you. If you're looking for a bike to ride down country roads or short country commute, this could be a reliable bike for a reasonable price. This would be the perfect bike for Jason, a friend of mine who is looking for just such a bike. I'm pleased with it.

Strengths: Very good entry-level machine @ a very economical price. Couldn't be happier.
It rides well the trails that contain 7 #ers(softball size rocks) and washes with hot entries and exits.Weaknesses: I understand it isn't made for big hits or knarly downhills with major jumps. I weigh near 250 and the bike is a godsend next to my hardtail. I haven't experienced any with my use.Bottom Line: Very pleased with product and would suggest it to anyone not sure how much they are into riding off road. At that price the investment is nominal and won't hurt too bad if mountain biking isn't for you. It's also the right bike for those who have a hard time convincing their spouse that $400.00 is not that much for a "Just a BICYCLE" when they want to move from a hardtail to full suspension. I have over 1000 miles of trail riding on this bike. Understand I logged just over 2000 on my old Trek 820 HT.

Strengths: Price, Frame Strength (so far), Rear GeometryWeaknesses: Crankset!!!, Rear Shock, Derailleur, WeightBottom Line: So this bike gets terrible reviews for its rear swingarm snapping off. I hope I don't experience this problem. I don't know if it is a symptom of 2006/earlier models, but my bike shop has examined my 2007 bike and they say the frame looks pretty damn sturdy.
THINGS I LIKE: I beat this bike up pretty bad, and it takes well. The rear suspension stays plants when climbing loose stuff (even though that shock is a bouncy piece of junk). I can also climb over some knarly stuff that I see people with $2000+ bikes walking over. Hayes MX4 brakes were pretty good, but I felt the urge to upgrade the rear for better stopping power that would put me over the handlebars.
THE BAD: The drivetrain is the weakest thing on the bike. Acera Dearailleur stalls after a month. The crank bends easily, necessary upgrade! Sucked on downhills, until I upgraded from Dart 1 fork. This bike is heavy. The same components were on the Warrior 1.3, and they could not take the hardtail abuse at all. that why I traded for maverick after 3 weeks.
I think I have already outgrown this bike after 5 months of riding. It does require some upgrades if you are taking it on tougher trails, but I think it is a solid first bike. Get a better Crank, upgrade the fork (Dart 3 is nice) and ride it hard for a year until you have enough money to buy something lighter.

Weaknesses: Rear welding failed due to confirmed manufacturing defect. I sent Iron Horse the pictures and they confirmed it was a bad weld.Bottom Line: I purchased the bike almost a year ago, but never rode it much until the past two months. I took it on a trail, the rear welding failed, and I fell off the bike.
As I've researched the company I see many negative reviews about this company and welding failures. I had a friend of mine who is an expert in welding examine the bike, and he identified the failure as a "cold weld" - a weld performed by equipment that is not properly calibrated. The type of weld defect that I expereience is 100% preventable if they would just calibrate the welding equipment.
I also saw that the manufacturer had a recent recall of bikes because of weld failures(look at CPSC.gov). I contacted the CEO and CFO at Iron Horse because I felt there was a public safety issue with some of these failures and wanted to make them aware of it. The CFO basically blew me off and said I was "wasting their time with the matter."
If anyone else has experience welding failures or product defects with this company please send me a description of your experience, as I would like to bring these matters to the attention of the Iron Horse executives.

Strengths: Recreational level full suspension cross-country mountain bike. The suspension is soft and compliant. The bike handles well on dirt and rocky trails. Has adequate gearing for hills (24 speed). This bike is a Trail SE model that has upgraded brakes and fork over the Trail model. The price is very good.Weaknesses: The stock maxis tires (very inexpensive) wear out quickly and have marginal traction for some situations. The bike is not a lightweight at 36 lbs.Bottom Line: Bought the bike 6 months ago and have about 2400 miles on it so far. I ride a 24 mile route up to 5 times a week that includes 14 miles of pavement and ten miles of dirt and rocky trail that includes 4 tough climbs. The Mx2 brakes work well with 6 in. rotors, are predictable with adequate power. An improvemnt over linear pull. The suspension is soft and has handled the terrain well. I weigh 200 lbs and have not had problems bottoming out, but I am not doing any jumps or drops. The chainstay on the frame on my K2 broke in 2 1/2 years, so I hope the frame on this bike lasts for it's 5 year warranty.

Strengths: It's a pretty good entry level bikeWeaknesses: Seatpost bent after only a few rides.Bottom Line: This is my first real bike so I don't have much to compare to. A couple of the guys I ride with have Gary Fishers and one has a Cannondale and this is heavier by far. That being said I ride my cheapo $300 harder than any of them and haven't had any issues minus a bent chain crank. (I was taking a 2ft log and bent it.)
This is a pretty good bike that was a really good deal considering its a dual suspension and has disk brakes. High quality entry level bike for your standard weekend warrior.

Strengths: Great grips.Weaknesses: Brakes, shifters. The brakes started to rub on the disc so it was hard to petalBottom Line: Great bike for the money. It holds up great on medium-sized drops. I'm not very heavy, but it held up fine on repeated five-foot drops to flat landings. I've also taken it on some large jumps and nothing broke (except my shin). The brakes were terrible and I had to get them fixed at it's one-month tune up. They had to replace my front and rear discs and had to put on a new front wheel. Other than that, it is a great bike for enyone who does light downhill and XC.
