Advanced Composite Technology and Maestro Suspension-a match made in heaven when it comes to XC performance. Engineers started with a composite main triangle, which includes the all-new OverDrive 2 headtube, MegaDrive downtube and PowerCore bottom bracket, and mated it to a stiff, lightweight and incredibly durable aluminum rear triangle. Strengths:    This bike likes to get up and go when laying down power, active suspension when its needed over the rough, race feel, 10 speed gearing spot on for the bike, fork smooth, no need for a lockout on the rear it pedals so good, tires race ready and good in a variety of other conditions, bar width perfect for this bike, weight light and feels lighter to ride. Can convert the wheels to tubeless with rim tape and am classic valve stems.

Weaknesses:    Front der flexes too much so I put an XX on it and made the bike so much better, taking the bottom bracket spacer out and putting it on the non drive side helped as well. The head tube is a bit long so take the spacers out from underneath the stem. This may be more of an issue on smaller models.

Bottom Line:
I have raced/rode this bike for a season now and really like it. Not a trail bike but good for most tame to moderate trails as the suspension is quite active. This bike pedals under power better than other designs I have tried, single pivot, DW link, trek full floater etc. I have loved doing a race season on this bike with no mechanicals!!! not even a flat.

Epic or Anthem X Advanced 29er 1?

Have a 26" Trance from 2007, and want a new FS race 29er. First I thought that a Specialized Epic 29er was what I wanted, but now I think that Anthem X 29er is the bike for me. I really like the spec. on Anthem X Adv. 29er 1, with XT and Sid, but it seems like it is sold out in Sweden in my size. ... Read More »

Anthem X Advanced 1 (complete) or build up an Anthem X 2 alloy frame 29er

I can get the Advanced version (2013 year model with XT) for $3500. I also found an Anthem 2 allow frame for $800 that I could build up for less than than and probably lighter/similar weight complete, but without the carbon front frame. Any opinions on which way to go? Separate question: I like Shim ... Read More »

Anthem X 29er 1 vs Anthem Advanced X 29'er 2 value in Canada?

Is it worth it going for the Anthem X 29'er Advanced 2 instead of the Anthem X 29'er 1? Frame only options seem out of wack price wise. I am 5 foot 9.5" tall and will weigh 165-180 riding season. I am recovering from a back injury. I ride cross country singletrack mostly with the odd obstacle or ... Read More »

Scalpel Carbon 2 vs. Anthem X Advanced 1???

Trying to make the decision between these 2, which one would you choose, and why? I can have either one from my LBS for very close to the same price. I demo'd the Scalpel and fell in love with it, haven't riden the Anthem yet, but plan to very soon. Thoughts appreciated!Read More »
