The Type X carbon hardtail isn't your run of the mill carbon race bike. It has been specifically designed to be ultra-light yet provide a high degree of lateral rigidity and vertical compliance. Frame weight is a low 1.1kg (medium size) and the ride quality is beyond your expectations: smooth as silk in the rough and light enough to make your legs feel invincible. If you are serious about making the top step of the podium, arm yourself with the best possible bike: the Tomac Type X.

Strengths:
Climbing, control, supple for a hardtail, nimble.
Weaknesses:
Nothing at all.
Bike Setup:
Full XTR. Fox Fork. Mavic Crossmax SL UST.
Bottom Line:
FINALLY off of a full suspension and I will never go back after riding the Type X. It climbs like a champ and anyone who says "just lock your shock out and you won't notice the difference" hasn't been on a Type X. I live in Sun Valley, ID and ride about 4x a week and this thing has exceeded my expectations...I expected it to climb well but it climbs excellent. Downhill is good too - the responsive control is so much better that I think I'm faster on the the Type X than I was with my 4 inch full suspension.
If you ride hard, want to out-climb your friends, and be nimble on the down hill, get this frame.

Strengths:
Lightweight. Stiff yet compliant frame.
Weaknesses:
At times the low BB height
Similar Products Used:
Specialized Epic, Giant NRS
Bike Setup:
Full XTR drivetrain, Stan's Race wheelset, Juicy Ultimate Brakes
Bottom Line:
This bike rocks. I switched over this year from a Specialized Epic and was a little neverous moving off the full suspension. After riding this bike for a while, I have no reservations. I dropped 3.7 lbs in frame weight and this bike flys uphill. What I am most impressed with is how much the Type-X calms trail noise, and how it corners. I have no regrets switching off the full suspension, and look forward to the year on the Type-X. If you're looking for a quality carbon hardtial, or just a fast racing bike, check out the Type-X
