Strengths:    Price, component spec

Weaknesses:    Saddle

Bottom Line:
You can't really go wrong with this bike, all the parts are name brand except the saddle and it would cost this much for the build kit without the frame.

My son wanted a hardtail to race and he found this bike, the parts spec is great and the frame looks great. If you have pleny of money, go ahead and buy the big brands, but for an entry level race bike, this can't be beat. The frames are made by ADK in Taiwan. Even if the frame had to be replaced it is still a decent deal.

RM Instinct MSL - could replace 2 bikes?

I got excited when I read the first reviews of the Instinct MSL last week. I currently have two main bikes I alternate between - an RM 2012 Element 970 (Alloy) which weighs in around 27lb and a SC Blur LTc with XX1 weighing in at around 28lb. I love both bikes. I ride a mix of rocky technical ... Read More »

Rocky Mountain Instinct MSL

So I had my mind made up, I was getting the Element BC Edition. This seemed to suit my riding style and seemed like an excellent all rounder, up, down, all day fun, a bit of endurance racing with some sweet jumps thrown in for good measure! Then RM go and release the Instinct MSL, more travel and ... Read More »

Rocky Mountain Element 970 MSL vs Instinct 970

Well I am in a bit of a pickle. I am looking for my next ride and I could really use some advice from people who may have experience riding either of these two bikes. I currently have a 2011 950 Element (aluminum) and it has been the best riding trial bike that I have ever owned. I know it is cons ... Read More »

Instinct 950 or Element 950

I'm just eyeing up getting a FS bike after a few years away from them. Still loving my Vertex RSL but the number of bike you have is never enough so the itch has to be scratched! I'm just going for a test ride tomorrow on a niner Jet 9 as the dealer hasn't got a demo rocky in but he says that I'l ... Read More »

2012 Element 970 or 2013 Instinct 950

I've norrowed my search down to 2 bikes - 2012 Element 970 and 2013 Instinct 950. I can get them both for about the same price. Has anyone ridden both? Any thoughts on which is better would be appreciated. I am a big guy (6'6" 235 pounds) who will do the occasional race but will mostly ride the trai ... Read More »
